Lightning fan here!

I'll be taking my family (2 adults, 2 kids) to the game next Monday (Jan 10th). I saw the new vax rules, we should be good.

This is my first game at the Prudential Center

First off tickets:

1. I was just going to stubhub something good a day or two before the game. We want to be somewhat close to the ice. Any tips here?

Other:

1. Food wise... just eat at the arena or is there anything good outside? By good, I'm talking fun atmosphere, good food, but also reasonably kid friendly.
........or is it worth it to be upgrade to some sort of suite/club level with food? My kids probably care more about being close to the ice.
2. Coming from Manhattan... Penn Station to Penn Station on the NJ Transit the best bet?
3. My kids may want to bring a sign or something...stupid yes...but it is what it is. Any policy around that?
4. Vax wise... do we need our cards or would the NYC Covid app by sufficient (even though we are in Newark)?

Welcome to Jersey! You will have a great time at the game. Definitely a family atmosphere at games especially in the lower level. Prudential Center also has the largest scoreboard of any arena in the world, so I’m sure the kids will be in awe of that. Here’s my feedback:

- For tickets, yes you will be fine waiting until a day or two before the game. I would also encourage you to check the resale tickets on Ticketmaster too (the ones that appear pink on the seat map) as you’ll find good deals on there as well. If looking for club seats, just make sure they say "Club Seating" or “All Inclusive” as not all seats in the lower level middle sections include club access (for example on Ticketmaster: section 18, row 5, seats 9 - 12 say “Club Seating” in description and thus include the club buffet access I reference below). I’m happy to help verify a ticket listing for you if you’d like.

- Regarding food, the stuff on the concourse is okay if you just want burgers and chicken fingers with fries. My recommendation would either be to get club seats that include the buffet (it’s a good mix of nice entrees, freshly carved meat, salads, classic arena food/snacks, desserts, etc) if it fits your budget. If you decide to eat before the game, I recommend Mercato Tomato Pie or Novelty Burger a block from the arena (although atmosphere is more quiet/calm). For some reason their websites don’t seem to be working, but both have good food. Redd’s Biergarten is also really good food and a great pregame atmosphere, but can get a bit crowded and loud closer to game time (they sell beer by the liter and half liter so people go there to chug on their way into the arena). You’ll be fine with kids either way, but if you get there early enough to eat before warmups, it’ll be less rowdy.

- For transportation, yes either take NJ Transit from Penn to Penn (goes direct), or depending where you’re staying in NYC it may be more convenient for you to catch the Path train to Newark Penn. The Path would just require a change of trains at Journal Sq. in Jersey City, but it’s easy to navigate as you’d just walk across a platform to the next train.

- Signs are definitely allowed! Not stupid at all haha. If you plan to catch warmups, you’ll see a ton of fans on the Devils side with signs. Just keep it to a regular poster board size or smaller. If you do go down to the glass for warmups, I’m sure the kids will get a puck if the sign requests one.

- For vax cards, I’m not sure about the NY app. But a photo of the vax cards on your phone is sufficient.

**Oh and the arena (possibly an NHL-wide rule) doesn’t permit any bags larger than a wallet or small clutch purse. Definitely nothing with a strap. So if traveling with a lady, plan ahead lol. The arena doesn’t accept any cash, so my wife and I usually consolidate our IDs and credit cards into just my wallet.

Enjoy!! And definitely reach out if you need more info.

Saw Disney on Ice today. When did they put that garage up on Mulberry St?

It was nice not being completely gouged for parking

I have a single seat cheap for Sunday. Top of 210 but, I'm sure you can move down or take someone with you and sit elsewhere.

Tickets are as low as $3 plus fees on Gametime for the game tomorrow night. A Saturday night and you can't even sell for half of face if you're a season ticket holder. Under $20 if you want to be in Lower bowl. The sad thing is a good chunk of those tickets under $10 won't even sell.

Ownership doesn't care. Nor will they ever care.

sadly, most nights, the tickets aren't even worth the data it takes to bring them up on your phone which has to be like 2/100 of a penny.

I just don't understand why they use a consignment shop to sell tickets on the secondary market. Even if the consignor only keeps %5 of the sale, and the Devils keep 95%, a $6 sale isn't much and destroys the season ticket value. This is considered "winning" to the team. This new consignment shop is just as bad as the old one.

to be fair I once got a $500 sports jacket for about $50.

The really sad part is even the $6 ticket ($10 with fees) on Stubhub doesn't entice me to go to the game. This is about as dead as the franchise has been since the Gretzky Mickey Mouse days.

The Tuesday night game was a perfect example where I'd literally have to be paid to go. I wouldn't have gone there for free unless it was club seats so I could at least get a meal out of it.

Literally the only reason I went on Wednesday is because I know I’m not going to too many others the next few weeks and that was supposed to be as good a chance at seeing a Devils home win this side of the Habs game

I got out of the season ticket business at just the right time.

I'd be stuck going to many games that I'd have no desire to go to.

I also have no desire to attend games anymore. The on-ice product has just stunk for way too long.

Anyone ever have issues claiming tickets from StubHub through Ticketmaster? I guess I bought them from the team on StubHub, so I'm sent a link to access the tickets through the team's website and it tells me if I don't have a NJD account to use my Ticketmaster account to login. When I do, it tells me I cannot login with that email, which makes no sense. Verified the account is active on Ticketmaster and tried to login again, still the same result.

Is this just due to some crappy setup on the team's part that it's not letting me login? What a silly exercise just to access the tickets.

Log-in to Ticketmaster’s regular website first and try accepting the tickets after. Make sure the emails match up too.

So I'm not sure if it's maybe some sort of glitch on their end or if I had set up an account to get student tickets, but it only accepted my college email and not my regular email address. So bizarre. But was able to figure it out. Thanks!

100% the only remaining games that might sellout will be the Rangers visits. No guarantee that they will but, sadly Rangers fans will outnumber us. Sucks...

Anyone who buys tickets at face value to see this team deserves what they get. I feel bad for season ticket holders who have no choice but to go or take a bath on selling their tickets.

And to top it off, I'd guess many season ticket holders opted for the 2 year price freeze contract. Imagine upping prices after another god awful season (yes, I know they will).

I said this in the game day thread but I haven't been happy about not being able to go to games this season(or last season) and it's super weird not going to games for so long but having the team be as awful as they are certainly makes it easier to take.

I've had my season tickets rolled over both seasons since covid started. I know several others who sit around me who did the same. I will give the front office credit here for working with season ticket holders who simply can't go right now for off ice reasons.

I'm hoping to be able to go next season and hoping the team finally turns the corner. Even with the team being shit I miss going to games as it was something I have done for so long and still enjoy whether the product is crap or not.

You could be right about ticket increases but I really just don't see how they can remotely even justify it after the team has missed the playoffs and aren't even a bubble team yet again. It's not like we are a hockey starved city where people will go no matter what, there is no season ticket waiting list. Feels like it would be cutting your nose off to spite your face, hell if anything they should offer another 2 year price freeze just to reward those who will pay full price for this garbage.
