Good dude or not he gets played to high up in the lineup.
And I didn’t like taking Liljegren out of the playoff lineup to fit him in.
ye taking him out last year was when we went on that giant roll i believe. hes a decent PKer, i just feel like hes too offensive happy and doesnt have the foot speed to recover when he makes mistakes. also his outlet passes are often terrible.

Ilya Samsonov is a fine and capable goaltender.
I agree. Once we get our defensive play up to where it was most of last season he will be more than fine for us.

And at his age he definitely has room to improve which is a bonus. There are definitely a few technical flaws that can be ironed out. Like he looks a little smaller in the net than he should sometimes.

He's a pretty bad coach, I hope Ottawa keeps him for a long time
When Ottawa starts to have success, he will not be their coach.

.925 save % too. Can’t complain about that.
There is a lot of Jack Campbell to his game in that he makes a lot of great saves but lets in some goals he probably shouldn’t.
I find he looks bigger than Jack, and has much more controlled movements. I don't now how it will play out, but he looks better than Jack to me... in two games. Like I said, see how she goes.

He is great to have as depth. There really aren’t many better #7 D in the league. I just think he gets overused.

Man I'm a huge willy fan but i gotta shoutout Mitch. The kid does a lot that goes unnoticed. Only beef is he hasn't taken over a playoff series but neither has your current Hart winner.

That being said willy and Mitch need to be here long term along with Matty. Simple as that.

I find it kinda the opposite. He looks a little smaller in his net than I like but he uses his natural athleticism to make up for it.

But he gives us reason to be hopeful. He is still one of the youngest goalies in the league.

Holl played a solid game. No brain farts in two games in a row. Impressive!
Oh he had a couple of brain farts. That’s what’s so frustrating about Holl. If played as a third pairing dman his brain farts will be limited. Let’s be honest though, what was he doing at the top of the offensive crease with just over a minute left? I’m glad he was, but it was a gamble for someone like him. If he missed, he’d be screwed.

I agree on Mitch. His offensive game isn’t quite up to the point we all expect yet but he is always the guy who drops back to the point to cover pinching D and he is always hard on the backcheck.

Fair question... but I find our D have a really bad habit of not committing to the offensive side of a play... they often go in deep, and when the forwards attempt to use them they have already bailed. I say if you are going in, trust your winger to cover and commit to the offensive play.

Leafs played well and got the deserved win. Ottawa may be 0-2 but I think they could take the 4th spot in the division with settled goaltending. They have a lot of talent and very little in the marginal/retrend player category. The Leafs' 4th is their best 4th line since they had the luxury of using players like Brown and Kapanen on it.

yep, loved the result..the thought process behind it was super questionable.

This was exactly how he played in Washington.

I want to see how he does against the better teams as the seasons wears on.
He still has a tonne of room to improve too. There aren’t many starters in the league younger than him.
Ottenger and Hart are the only 2 I can think of off the top of my head.

Keefe shot himself in the foot ranting and complaining over the missed puck over the glass call. The officials seemed to double down on looking the other way on the Ottawa interference after that.
