Here's the cliff, everyone jump. EDM wins 4-2

Expectations are so low for Brown that we'll reward anything. Unfortunately, just like Richards. We need production, not potential.

Some of you guys are getting riled up by the same people who say the same things over and over and won't change their minds. What makes you think that one post is going to change their minds?

It just amazes me that people are still calling for Richards to be inserted into the lineup. It's like certain people haven't watched Richards play the last two seasons.

Mike Richards last 25 games played for the Kings..

1G, 2A, 3Pts, -8

With zero physical game. I mean I don't even know what to say when I read a post like the one you replied to.

One person said that, stop lumping people in with like two(die hard Richards fan's) on this board.

I am getting really tired of that from you Herb.

I think Brown can be traded if they keep a decent chunk of the contract. Now if that is something you would want to do that's another question. Richards will for sure be taking up a fair amount already and if you add Brown to that list of dead cap money you're putting yourself in quite a hole when compared to other cap teams.

We're already going to be keeping a chunk of Mike Richards' contract when we buy him out this off-season. Do you really think the Kings will be willing to keep a chunk of Brown's contract?

The Richards situation is a costly one, and I guearantee you Lombardi learned from it, but we still have yet to see how that plays out. As I said, I have faith.

Lombardi views Blake not spending his entire career as a King a tragedy, and he never won **** here. How do you think he feels about the guy that captained not one but two cups to LA? The first and only two? Think long and hard, young warrior...

I feel like you contradict yourself there Bandit. You say that DL has learned from the Richards disaster but then you argue he will make a decision to keep Brown that is based more on what his heart says than what his head says. Now I am not saying I would trade Brown, I would give him one more year, but he can't be above criticism or not being part of a move that helps the team long-term because of sentimental reasons. That is why we are stuck with the worst contract in the NHL right now.

His contract is gross and his play the past two years isn't much better. As for how Lombardi feels, he needs to drop the emotional connections or we will have many more Richards on our hands

Coaching staff isn't the issue. The physical style obviously tires the players out but it doesn't make sense for guys like Kopitar, Brown, Williams to look so tired throughout the whole season. The Blues play a similar style, their players have looked fresh for the last 3-4 years.

They've played 4 playoff rounds total in the last 3 years, the Kings have played 11.

Browns biggest problem has been his line mates. Not saying he was great this year, just it is hard to score with no one to pass the puch to or to give him the puck. It seems like he gets the puck on a turnover. Skates it over the blue line and takes a shot. I mean would you pass to Stoll?

I would agree with that, if Brown hadn't had a terrible year with playing a good portion of it with Kopitar. Like he did this season.

In the end Flames will flame out. Kings will crush them and so will Jets. See ya Flames.

st. Louis? Are you joking? They haven't made it out of the second round.

People is a plural term, there is more than one poster on this board who feel that way. I did not include everyone in that group, I know that 90% of this board hopes they never see Richards take another shift with the Kings but you always see those posts from a few different people and it's beyond comical.

For anyone who has been around the Kings online communties for long enough it has almost reached the "Call up Flynn" level.

Stevens is an exact clone of Murray/Sutter hockey. Why do you think Stevens passed up TWO HC interviews to remain a King ?

You problem lies in Lombardi, and the entire Kings philosophy TOP down. Manchester plays the EXACT same system.

I don't think there is a problem with Lombardi or the Kings' system in general. The Kings are never going to play the kind of BS pond hockey that some posters want to see as long as Lombardi is the GM.

The current philosophy employed wins championships. It is time for some new blood on the roster though. Dean does a critical self evaluation at the end of every season. These players are going to be treated more like commodities from now on.

You're joking right? What the **** have the Blues done in the postseason. The barometer of success is CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The captain from two cup teams is not going to be jettisoned after a bad season playing with Stoll and Lewis. The jump is there with Brown, and there has NEVER been a question of his character. He will adapt, the cap will go up, it will be fine.

Exactly,

I think Kurrilino doesn't understand that though. :)

It's a top down philosophy, it's why Sutter was hired in the first place.

Just some thoughts.

The fact is the team is barely missing the playoffs, if they do. A lot of monkey wrenches popped up this year:
- Voynov's drama
- Pearson missing half the season
- Minor injuries to Gabby, Kopi, Toffoli, AMart
- Losing a buttload of shootouts
- And of course, referee Ian Walsh bonehead early whistle

If any of those, or some other things I'm forgetting, don't happen then we'd be playoff bound right now. Hell, if even just Voynov's situation didn't happen our D would've been better most of the season, Doughty wouldn't be so tired, and we'd have at least a couple more points.

So the team, for all its problems, is still a good team and a few tweaks and a bit of good fortune away from being a SC contender again.

There are two things that alarm me
#1 Dean's kept some serious baggage he should've let lose like Greene and Richards.
#2 The team overall really does seem to give inconsistent effort. Losing doesn't bother me nearly as much as lack of effort does. Some other teams have hit adversity this year and answered the call better than our team has. Maybe the team has bought too much into the idea they can turn it on whenever they feel like and it's finally come back to bite them?

I really just can't be too upset. It's just an off season all around. Sad that Williams, Stoll, Richards, and probably RR will go out on this note most likely.

Grateful for the past few years. Hoping that next year they will be back to form.
