Panarin needs to be gone at all costs. I would say Kreider too but the organization is in love with a power play specialist feeding him 1st line minutes while he should have been on the third line.

Panarin needs to go. Not up for discussion

We need end of Mighty Ducks 3

ask him to waive, at this point get what you can. This organization has had no problem in the past overplaying it’s hand in these types of trades with other players so continue the trend

Ok, so what if he says no to being waived?

Ryan Reaves was a positive difference-maker?

I forgot how good they were before he left.

Should they sign noted asshole Andrew Tate?

Guess Quinn wasn't the problem.
Your first good idea.

This team needs a couple Andrew Tates

i'm not signaling you out, but this has now become the new psyche of the NYR fan.

The NYR were riducled for years for "buying the cup" in 94" and getting any player they wanted with money.

Now they rebuild and that's not working so all the first, second, sixth, ninth, etc round picks are busts?

Really? What's left then?

They tried a cup run on the heels of an All-World goaltender, and that almost worked. Do they plan on doing that again with Shesterkin? Is that a winning hockey plan?

This organization as whole, thinks they're the smartest guys in the room, and they keep failing.

A miracle run last season is showing this team for a fluke!

The veteran players on the NYR are not the right guys to lead a youth program.

Kreider is a net front specialist, and speed streak scorer and nothing else.

Panarin is a boutique offensive specialist that needs tailor made linemates to excel.

Zabinajad is a gifted offensive player, but in his head too much.

Fox is getting worn down.

The players above are essential components of a winning team, but they are not leaders. They're ancillary players.

Rangers need a "Brady Tkachuk" type of player... a central figure(s).

You need these types in the top 6/bottom 6 and on defense.

At this point I don't care who they trade. I just want to see a plan executed with thought, and have it adhered to from the top down.

You are not singling me out, it’s just getting very frustrating and people are upset. But this is how I see it. NY sports are intense, the pressure is intense and the fans are impatient. Look at teams like Tampa and Colorado. They built their teams from draft and development and made necessary trades to improve their roster. They remained patient and didn’t go after big free agents and overpay.

That result, of draft and development, going to get about a decade of contending and not just 4 or 5 years. Problem is the organization is impatient they want to win now, so do the fans. So the product is rushed. I think it was @Machinehead who said Gallant came into an unfinished product. I agree, the Rangers have a lot of strong pieces in Fox, Mika, and Panarin but they are missing that depth in the bottom 6, and also that determination and heart, which was never the same after the 2010-2013 teams.

Mitch Marner is too handsome or whatever their media says, I definitely think they should trade him for elite winger Artemi Panarin and budding power forward Alexis Lafreniere #LeafsForever

LOL even if this wet dream could actually come true and a player of Marner's caliber comes here, I bet he'd be run out of town in under two seasons when our mental midget of an owner develops his Napoleon complex over Mitch's dad commenting to the media and "trying to undermine his authority as owner"

Of course not....he needs that Rangers playoff cash to keep the Knicks payroll viable.

As for the fans, I think the majority were ready -- we'd been complaining for decades about those "look good on paper" teams that didn't mesh as well as the multitude of FAs that came and went making only a negative impact.
I think the majority of US did, but there's a big majority of our fanbase that only know Twitter and Larry Brooks. Not so sure about them

Fun fact: NYR edited out the part of the Trouba postgame interview in which he says “I have to be careful with what I say”.
I know Trouba has been struggling, but he showed a lot of heart last night. He certainly earned some respect from me, hope he can figure out or heal up and play healthy.

In the alternate Gorton universe, the next major question was if Quinn was going to be retained.

But always in Jeff Gorton's pocket was Martin St Louis. If Quinn did indeed survive for one more season, there was a high likelihood his assistants would not of.

MSL was offered slots multiple times (Wolfpack coach officially and entreaties to have him join as an assistant earlier on). At both times, MSL wasn't ready for the time commitment away from his kids and an assistant/associate coach role wasn't completely a non-zero chance of happening in this alternate universe. MSL's work with CLB was a toe-dip to see if he was ready to be away from home.

People forget how bad the Rangers were before the trade deadline in 21-22. They only really started playing a lot better when they added 2 top 6 forwards (Copp, Vatrano), a bottom 6 (Motte) and a #6 defenseman (Braun). Drury added an entire line.

Why could the Rangers add these pieces? It was because they were only paying a Norris #1 D, #1C, and a Vezina #1G 12.8M TOTAL, Drury had the most capspace of any playoff team.

They need a shooting option for the other side on the PP. If you noticed, as soon as Panarin actually started shooting, Zib was open again for the one timer on the PP.

We have multiple players of his caliber already

It's clear there are some issues going on internally in the locker room and cohesion. We dont' really now teh specifics. Could be any number of different issues happening at same time. As easy as it is to imagine Panarin refusing to play within a system and demanding who his linemates are, it's also easy to imagine Kakko and Laffy being upset behind the scenes. If you listen to the lastest up in the blue seats, Mollie had a convo with K'Andre about his game this season and the sense one walks away with when hearing it, is Miller knows it's a contract year and is a bit too concerned with generating offense -- when in reality what is needed for the team, esp with Trouba being banged up, is for Miller to be THE #1 Shutdown D. But because he's got his contract on his mind, he's possibly putting his own needs as a pro ahead of the team at times. I'm sure he's trying to get points within the team concept, but you can see him pressing in the O zone, a lot. He's actually had numerous chances to score but he's fumbling pucks, missing the net in higher danger positions, etc. If you extrapolate that kind of thinking to other players on the team, you can imagine that Chytil and Laffy might be feeling something similar. And esp when Laffy is getting 12 min a night, knowing he's a #1 pick and his first contract is coming up, you can imagine how frustrated and disappointed he is right now. I'm sure as much as there are issues with the top of the roster with the vets not leading and failing to play within a team concept and preaching the right things to the kids, the kids are equally as frustrated about sacrificing ice time and responsibility to vets who can't seem to get on the same page. What's happening is, the team isn't gelling. And what happens when the team doesn't gel? They fall apart situationally. Again, this is ALL projection and conjecture. I really have no idea what's really going on in regards to specifics. But someone or something needs to get the guys to put the team first and their individual needs second.

Of course they did. This is the James Dolan culture.

Bet your ass some rank and file control room worker was threatened with termination over this. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Trouba is the guy traded, or gets stripped of the C either.

This is this organization's MO.

All over sports, teams are having slumps or entire bad seasons which they recover from. Sometimes without major changes in personnel or coaches.

Last year the team was hungry and had confidence to recover from early deficits but that seems out of the window right now.

Several players slumping at the same time brought us to a downward spiral were the entire team is losing confidence.

I would refrain from any knee-jerk reactions and instead the organization needs to lay a long term plan. This organization is notorious for patching holes and coveting shiny new toys. It worked in -94 but there are a lot of things that needs to click for that.

Do we want the team to be good for years or do we want to buy occasional chances in the playoffs?

At this point its addition by subtraction. I'd offer to retain 50% of his contract and see what kind of offers are out there.

There is no war in Ba Sing Se. All is well, nothing to see here.

Let me throw out another theory on Panarin. He's never really been known to be a locker room issue. Happy go lucky, hustled, etc.

He already wasn't happy Drury has him on double secret probation after last year's playoffs. Panarin says "ok, go get me Patrick Kane and I'll play better". No secret they got along in Chicago. Drury said no because he doesn't have the cap space. Panarin kicks and screams like a toddler behind the scenes. Reaves gets abruptly dealt to make more space for the deadline which coincides with a massive losing streak and overall stretch of poor play. Drury wants to get rid of the headache but can't because of his NMC.

Things are just starting and are going to get really interesting...
