At one point in the off season Freddy cost just $1m in real dollars with 1 year left. Cash strapped teams (which is pretty much all of them) weren't jumping all over that during a goalie-strong market?

The crazy part is we've improved defensively each year. Logically, his numbers should be going the opposite direction.

Agreed. I’m okay with his performance tonight but generally have nearly 5 full years of Andersen and his Lalime Rating is unusually high.

On the plus line that Tavares/Nylander line is still creating and Hyman is an absolute gem.

Would anyone be interested if they tried to get Rinne at the trade deadline? He's not having the best year but the Preds haven't been good either. The guy has had playoff success in the past. I just don't see Fred carrying us any where in the playoffs

I mean, that line was sluggish before Kerfoot moved onto it (except for the little time with Simmonds). That line is more noticeable with Kerfoot and he's got a good motor to get in there and make stuff happen but playing with Nylander you have to be able to cash those gimmies.

deflections in front of you with or without traffic are a mess , no matter who’s in the net 50/50 chance and I’m sure all goalies will tell you that
However
I didn’t like Fred on the 4th goal ..which was the difference
Also when a.save is made makes a difference
Hence 4 th goal
But let’s not only blame him , lots of that shit goes around on that 4 th one , but Fred has to be more aggressive there ...
And that was the difference..

Andersen isn't really below average as a starter. His problem is sudden, dramatic and catastrophic meltdowns in high pressure or high stakes situations where he needs to be a positive difference maker.

Save% tends to rise with shots against, 1 bad bounce will tank your numbers if you're only facing 20 shots. That being said, the types of shots we're giving up should be more than enough to balance that out, he's getting destroyed on low danger point shots.

Numbers don’t lie. He’s gotten worse as the defense has gotten better.
We're one of the very few teams in the league that could get 3 by that version of Hellebyuck tonight. Bare minimum, we should have gotten a point out of this game. But Freddy blows chunks, so we get nothing.
