Andersen isn't really below average as a starter. His problem is sudden, dramatic and catastrophic meltdowns in high pressure or high stakes situations where he needs to be a positive difference maker.

For the past two seasons he has been well below average.
What is the average save percentage in the NHL? Around .918?
He just isn’t all that good and seems to be in serious decline. Time to move on.... even if it has to be Campbell full time.
Going into the playoffs with Anderson would be such a letdown for the team and the fans.

Oh, my point is I think he has legit starting ability, he just doesn't have the mental makeup and character to handle the critical situations you'd trust a starter with. Really just saying the same thing. Neither of us are ordering the Andersen Reverse Retro jersey.

We need Matthews to go insane, and need some goals from the 2nd line. Would take a lot of things going right.

I mean, that line was sluggish before Kerfoot moved onto it (except for the little time with Simmonds). That line is more noticeable with Kerfoot and he's got a good motor to get in there and make stuff happen but playing with Nylander you have to be able to cash those gimmies.

Kerf is on pace for 36 points///getting prime minutes with those 2 and 2nd PP time

the wee lad does not bring any physical play AT ALL ,, and gets knocked around like a child out there

i don't see the point of 3.5m in cap space being spent on him. Frankly i am struggling to see the point of him being on the roster at all

Sometimes adversity is good but we have already had a few decades of adversity. The names and faces change but the result is always the same. Leafs either start out good and slide or start out poor then pick it up, then come playoffs it’s total failure.
I have been a Leaf fan for 4 decades and it sure would be nice to see them win it all

The team played great for the most part and deserved to win. Give credit to the goalie for the other team, who is capable of stealing games. Btw, when was the last time Andersen stole a game for us? 826 SV%? Not good enough when the other goalie is great. Does this sound familiar? Series against Columbus. I'm afraid that regardless how well we do in our season, we are going to be out-goalied in the playoffs. Demko first, now Hellebuyck. Don't dismiss Price or Allen doing the same thing in a playoff series.

There are a few players I'm very concerned with. Muzzin has been very poor, but he has an excuse with that faceshield. But wtf is wrong with Holl? Just when we thought we had something he has looked absolutely horrible in the past 3 games. The other one is Rielly, he really is a crapshow on defence.

A good/competent started is around .915

damn good starter around .916 to .920

.920 or better = stud

Depth seems to be a strength of the team. Our bottom 6 is solid and the defense is playing well. That's with some key injuries in there too

Unfortunately Andersen had a night it would be better to forget and was a huge difference maker, for the Jets

It would be nice to get Campbell back right about now because my tolerance for an Andersen cold patch is at an all time low
