Let him earn the starters net back. For me.... he's the backup now. Sort your stuff out and support the #1 guy.
I agree ...
That’s how on occasion ,comes a great sports story
The starter is benched and the Backup or 3rd stringer became a a sensation and wins it all ..
Brady is one on the Pats when he got his chance ..
Binnington ? I think as well
Dryden in the playoffs
Lots of great stories come from those scenarios
You can always go back to him
But I agree it’s time and see what happens

Didnt get to watch the game tonight.
How was matthews? Saw he got 2 goals but was he better? Did he take any hard shots at all? Still same PP thing?

He was net front on the PP. I don't even remember him taking a hard shot like he usually does when healthy. He's just so good at scoring that he finds ways in front of the net to capitalize even though his wrist is clearly bothering him

Andersen is very good in front of a team that's doing their job and get good stats for it. But as soon as something goes wrong, he has no ability to flex out of his rigid play-style.
You can win with Andersen as long as you play a completely perfect systematic defensive game. Anything out of the box, he's horrible.

Does Toronto deserve to win? Well they were out-hit 28 to 15 ... nothing new there. They blocked 4 shots compared to the Jets 15. Mathews is credited with two take-aways...
the rest of the team? ZERO. The amount of times the Leafs made some contact against Edmonton was significantly more than these last three games. They give the opposition
time and space. They're not skating, they're not supporting their blueline. The Leafs have all the offense but are structurally lazy. Keefe would be right to tear a strip off them.

What this does do is open up any possible trade discussions IMHO.

I'd rather go with the unknown than the guy that chokes whenever the pressure comes on
I have been saying for years, we are not winning anything with Andersen in net. I don’t know how much more proof management needs, waste another first round playoff series with him in net again maybe. For the love of god play Campbell in the playoffs.

Makes sense with a first place team and a ~.900 starter being outplayed by multiple back-ups, no?

I am not usually one for overreacting, and I think going for Andersen's head before last season was probably not exactly fair given he was still giving us a lot of good outings and the defense was not the best. However, it is a rather large sample size for Andersen now and he is progressively getting worse as our defense is getting better. There were already a ton of inconsistencies in the good times (i.e. first 3 years) but he had more good stuff to make up for it, so he would be excused if he had some rough stretches. However since that second Boston series, it has been an issue that simply has not been fixed, and it is mostly just the bad stuff without much of the good stuff. So there are legitimate concerns that can be brought up now.

He's still a passable starter, but passable starters don't win Cups... And our team (and especially our drastically improved defense) deserves so much more than what he has been giving them right now. Ultimately, I don't think the room gets rocked too much if he gets dealt. It is not like he needs to develop chemistry with anyone really (goalies kind of do with the defense, but I don't think he has any chemistry with them right now anyways) and ultimately I think many of the guys know that he has been letting them down for a little while now.

the sky is falling. i look forward to the same ppl complaining talking so positively after a leafs win.

imagine worrying about games before the playoffs like they even matter at this point..

These games do matter and it is in preparation for the playoffs. The Leafs could just as easily start falling in the standings if they keep on losing and the teams below them start getting hot.
