Winter is Coming
Dillon to me likely does get a late 1st with retention or none at the deadline so yup... I'd take it and run Josh Samberg ville on the left.

Not a pionk fan or Nate fan so I'd look to move both honestly... maybe in a Dubois deal I look at Justin Barron or Braden Schneider and yup. 1 of those plus demelo plus ?? On the right.

But... 26 80 55 37 more pressing concern

Dillon seems like a good vet tho so maybe he can play the right or ville can with him. Kind of a size and skill pairing. Demelo with Josh. And Barron Samberg probably a nice pair

Heinola almost for sure makes it next year. I'd love to see him play with DeMelo, and have a top righty to play with Josh next year via trade. Samberg and Dillon as the bottom pair. Get rid of the other guys. I think we could get a lot for Pionk as a package with another player. In the playoffs he was good.

ideally id like to keep heinola. but i just don't see where he gets a consistent role on this team this season. and it's been like that over the past few.

i thought he could be at least a 2nd pair Defender and overall had high-potential for us, however as the years gone on that has dwindled away.
He'd have to come into camp faster and stronger (as per his goals) -
He'd have a shot then - and the team would likely move someone to make room for him.
If he doesn't, I can see the team sticking with what they have - and both Stan and Ville being moved - leaving capo is the 7th.
Capo doesn't complain and is happy filling the 7th spot - and can do it on both sides

I can't see the org hanging onto either Stan or Ville unless they play regular minutes - both have stated they want more.
Stan has outright asked to be moved unless he plays - Ville / agent beat around the bush a bit more, but similar message if you want to read between the lines.

Potentially moving 2 first rounders is the only thing that is holding this scenario back IMO - especially when you consider the potential return (if looking at this realistically) - the org wouldn't be happy, maybe even a little embarrassed.

Paul Edmonds thinks that Heinola has been the best Jets Defensemen all preseason ("and it hasn't been close"). Predicting he'll stick this year.

And now I see he's injured... I blame this on Edmunds... 😒
And now Jets won't waive Stanley😞

Damn, this sucks. I suspect he would've been sent down anyway, but I feel for him.

I think they have to. Can't send down injured players.
I would hope they tell Ville that he has made the team and will only get sent down for conditioning once he is fully recovered. The kid must be devastated and if he has lost his chance due to an injury it would be even worse. Jets are a very player friendly team, so let’s hope this is just a temporary setback for Ville.

this coming from edmunds was actually pretty telling that he was going to be on the opening night roster. in what capacity? not sure, i think clearly over stanley and capo. & given schmidt's injury he was going to be playing game-1.

No surprise after his reaction on the ice, not being able to skate off and needing help to the room, really to bad for him and the team as he really looked good in the preseason. Hopefully it heals well and rehab goes well but unfortunately I really don't think we see him till the new year.

Fractured ankle. Probably the best outcome.

8-12 weeks.

Agreed. It's shitty, but the nature of a fracture means it can heal properly. You don't have to deal with extenuating circumstances like you do with strains and sprains. This is probably the best deal for the Jets, because now they don't have to worry about losing a player to waivers.

They still have to worry as they still will have to waive one of Capo, Stanley, Chisholm if Schmidt is good to go.

The coach basically said he had made the team earlier in the day.

Haven't heard about Eyssimont in a while but he's been getting ice time next to Point and Kucherov so :dunno:

Also

Probably a better fit in the around the league thread then the Henola thread.
