ummm sorry to burst your whiny attack post, but without the trade for torres we are down a man from the trade deadline, to now. we have no depth. without the torres trade we have nobody behind him, or unless you think wilson doesn't trade clowe because he was going after torres the entire time.

which doesn't make sense because for a week prior to the trade deadline the rumours were which team was going to win the clowe trade.

He was always going to trade Clowe. He made that clear to DP. It wasn't until the 5 game win streak that he decided to buy. Otherwise he was going for at least a mini-rebuild next year.

Who? Jussi "healthy scratch" Jokinen?

I agree with this. I don't see any 3rd liner moved at the deadline that would have had a larger impact than Torres. I certainly don't see any better "bang for the buck" deal except Iginla's screwjob on Calgary.

Duplicitousness: I still don't like the trade because it's Torres.

I honestly don't think he is even turly injured. He will be back on Saturday.

For clarification, I hope he isnt injured because I hate seeing players get hurt, and obviously, their lives are more important than a game. But I think the Kings sat him to really push for suspension. Maybe my anger is clouding my judgement I dont know lol.

We will have to wait and see if he is really injured.

Again, we could have traded for someone else. I don't care who it is at this point, they are better than a suspended Torres. And as Zaffy said, he's a liability.

Look, it's not like I've ever changed my tune on this. He's a ********, I"ve always said so, I never wanted him on his team. I was perfectly willing to admit he was playing well, but I was just waiting for him to do something stupid, which he did. What part of that is not exactly what I said would happen?

Sure he could have sent Stoll to the emergency room and ended his career, but short of that he's still doing the same dumb crap he's always done, just now he's wearing a Sharks sweater.

Yep, and you never will. Every post in this thread shows you can't even think clearly on the subject.

If patty lays that hit it isnt even 2minutes. This entire thing is reputation based and we all knew it was going to happen.

Pretty much, don't want to I told you so too much, but even if you don't blame him for that hit too much (It wasn't as bad as a lot of others) he's still got a reputation that has now seriously hurt this team.

Sorry, this is a case of league malfeasance. This is beyond a reputation call and into completely made up territory. Then they pull CBA circumvention on top of that.

Im not too great when it comes to recalling the CBA. How did the suspension circumvent it?

Appeal first goes through Bettman and then to a neutral panel if commissioner maintains 6+ games for suspension.

Not sure if an appeal could even get done in time to make a difference or if Sharks will appeal. They may have cut a deal not to appeal.

This is all so stupid I cannot even begin to comprehend it. I feel like I just woke up from a dream so random I am dazed and confused just trying to remember it all.

Free Torres.

We would have made the playoffs without Torres, if you are saying we would not have got through the first round without him, we swept Vancouver, it wasn't even close. Raffi, while good in that round, was not going to make a big difference in the result of that series more than likely.

What is for sure is he has put us a man down in the second round because of a reckless, unnecessary, play. He's a repeat offender, he's under the microscope, and the Sharks took a risk on him that has now bit them in the ass.

Will it cause them to lose this series? Can't really determine that, but he's certainly now done more harm than good in at least this series.

My argument always was that he's a known piece of garbage who regularly intentionally injures people. We all knew that even a minor infraction was going to cost him based on that reputation. Well here it is.

The guy can play hockey, no doubt, but he's damaged goods.

All of the above, and more. For those wanting to re-sign him this off-season, we can expect more of these borderline calls going against us if we do. Torres is a good hockey player, when he is not head-hunting. But his past makes relying on him a very risky proposition. My hope, we spend his money on a border line second line winger/UFA tweener. We need to add someone to our top 6 next year (sorry Raffi, go somewhere else please)

coulda woulda shoulda. just because you didnt like torres when we got him, doesnt make you right after this ban job.

i cant even think of anyone else we couldve pulled for a third rounder. and im glad we got him, and if we make it past this round torress will still make an impact in the WCF.

i expected a suspension, but when stoll comes back on saturday i think a lot of peoples tunes will change.

if stoll is also out for the series....well i hope hes not.

Seems like the player should be allowed to play during an appeal not sit and wait for a decision.

Like, when all evidence points to Chris Neil kicking a puck into a net in Game 6 of a playoff series but the goal stands anyway.

If anything, you should be annoyed that Shanny can use physics in suspensions but the NHL won't use physics in goal reviews.

Sounds like they justified it the way I thought they would. Surprised it's only for the series. I thought they'd do worse with their justification.

but the nhl could actually say its not a 6+ game suspension, they can say its just a 4 game suspension, and wait it out for the 4th game to be over and if the sharks are still in the 2nd round, then they say its a 5 game suspension, and if the sharks win, they can finally say its a 6 game suspension, but by this time it would be to late any ways to get torres back before the series ended.

Oh yes the mythical tweener that will sign here.
