sounds like NO suspension, or a game, due to the fact that he probably wont make it back in time...I bet they tried to delay his flight out of NYC..

my take is that the NHL is trying to save face here...the hit was clean but Lombo was in somebodies ear after the game and the wheels were set in motion.

At first this situation really bothered me like a lot of you. I've accepted it today though. The more I look at the play, the more I think to myself "he should have played the puck." I still think its a clean hockey hit, but the fact of the matter is that a man is injured so it should be at least looked at. As long as Stoll doesn't come back before Torres, I am ok with the trade-off. Nothing we can do.

Your thought is incorrect. If this was non contact rec league, yes he should have played the puck. It's not. It's the NHL and it a full check league. There is no obligation to try and play the puck when going after a puck carrier. It's really simple... If you're carrying the puck you are eligible to be checked.

He could/should have played the puck on that play IMO. Clearly Stoll was struggling to keep his footing. You shouldn't hit a guy when they are in a defenseless position like that, its a liability. If Stoll was simply just skating with his head down, I could understand the outrage. This is so strange to understand as they are former teammates and friends. Clearly Torres had no intention on hurting the guy, but didn't see him stumbling when he came in for the hit?

To be fair. I do think Torres's reputation is a factor in all of this. I strongly believe that if the hit was made by someone else, just a penalty would be sufficent.

Again wrong... Torres has no obligation to play the puck.
