You don't need someone starting 80% of their shifts in the Dzone, the Hawks didn't have in 2010 or 2013 and things worked out OK, they didn't have it for 41 games last year and Toews played well, Kane played well, and the points kept coming. Other players don't do it because it is not something you have to do to win. Plenty of cheap players can handle the ~35% Ozone starts the Hawks checking center saw pre-2014.

Starting Kruger anywhere else is pointless (literally and figuratively). He is very limited in his capabilities and somebody loves to have him on this team.

PD's game, in total, would have been a satisfactory replacement for Kruger.

Our top 2 LWs are FAs this year, and they're both due big raises and keeping them or replacing them is a much better use of our cap than spending it on a center with zero offensive game.

I could really care less about Panik, he can be replaced IMO. But yes, if it came down to Panarin or Kruger, the choice is obvious.

Exactly. The over rating of Kruger goes on, and on, and on. Good on him though to pull the wool over people's eyes including Hawk management.

Preach. By far the most overrated Hawk.

I've been saying this for years. Weak on his skates, poor shot, doesn't see the ice well. Only good for taking a Dzone start and getting the puck out of the zone.

2m overpaid, and I don't give a crap about him taking less cash one year and that the Hawks owed him. Terrible.

People keep saying this, but there are very few players in the NHL that take the workload that Kruger does, let alone succeed at it to the degree he does.

Kruger is a rarity.

The only reason for Kruger being on the team is to take a Dzone start because he has no offensive ability whatsoever. Otherwise he'd have no place on the team. The reason other players don't do what he does is because they're able to play offense.

I can't believe that any other warm body wouldn't be able to get the puck out of the zone 50%+ of the time in those circumstances. He gets it out and runs to the bench. Play then gets turned around and Hawks back on D. But hey, looks good for Kruger's Corsi.

Couldn't agree more.

Did you even see the goal? He didn't even do anything except sit in front and receive a freebie after the goalie ****ed up

You and everyone here knows the answer is that BWC has not watched PD much this year if at all. NHL.com stats pages gives him his game footage.

Surely Bickell does not get another contract after this one is out. Getting scratched from one of the worst teams in the league. Not sure why I thought he could change it around in Carolina and at least become a semi-OK 4th line player.

Me neither. He's been done. He's broken.

There is a reason why it took trading TT with him to get him moved. His body is broken at this point. It is very clear he has little balance left and that is a bad thing when you have to skate.

And TT with 2 shots in last 4 games. This boy is playing himself out of the NHL at this point or to a league minimum salary. His NHL.com Hurricanes photo is even in a Hawk uni.

Yeah I have watched him play 3-4 games this year and the consistency is just not there. You still see the talent. Nothing has really changed with my talent assessment but he seems lost on that team. He has actually regressed in Carolina.

Carolina absolutely blows.

Kevin Hayes apparently lost 20lbs this off season and has been on a tear this season.

again the Danault is better than Krüger talk? Habs have had a nice start to the season, but they aren't as good as the Standings might say. Have seen a bit of them and even while winning, I didn't think they are going to win the East.

They just said Saad would have been a healthy scratch but Dubinsky is injured and Jenner had to play center. Find that hard to believe but wow if true.
