Bedard's struggles are definitely impacted almost entirely by the trash he has to play with. If you know there's no threat of him making a pass, because you don't have to account for the 4th line wingers he's with being a threat, then you can simply play him directly and keep him from shooting. Almost every D puts a ton of pressure on him, and a big reason for that is because his wings are never a threat to make a high-danger play.
