I just don't get it. I mean I do, cause I know the areas of the world a lot of these guys come from and the families they are raised in, but by now you would think they would have grown up and met different people.

Kick em out. Make an example of em.

The older I get, the more I see that there are many stupid people out there and we still have a lot of work as a species to do.

We've come a long way since I was a child but it's going to take a few more centuries.

It would be nice if our ECHL affiliate addressed the situation like a professional sports franchise. I mean, these guys have the Rangers logo on their twitter header. But I guess that's too much to ask.

you're right, but I see regression. We (the West) are on a backwards track these days.

LOL it took them all night to come up with that? Yuck.

It doesn't excuse it, but there isn't much money in the ECHL. The media folks are going to be like a small town's local news channel in terms of pay and experience.

The second statement is much better, and good on them for taking the appropriate action to release him from the team

I am not defending the accused action

In saying that, has anyone been able to see what actually occurred? I couldn't make it out in the videos I saw as it appeared to be from someone's phone. If not, then the organization is right in stating as they did that they will investigate the incident first and the make a decision. Maybe I missed it but isn't he innocent until proven guilty?

Again because I am sure people will be upset with these questions, if he indeed made these gestures than just release him and push him out of the organization to make an example of him. I just want there to be actual proof and some sort of investigation before just destroying someone's livelihood.

The only video I have seen thus far is the one PK posted, and I didn't see the incident in that. There was one point where the two players were separated and Panetta is off screen--it's right about then that Subban flips out, so I assume maybe it was there.

That's the one I saw. And perhaps everyone on the ice could have easily and quickly corroborated the story and there are more details that are available in that way.

I'm not saying we should defend this, just want to make sure we (they) have all of the facts before they vilify someone.

I posted about this in the main board thread at length so I'll just copy and paste that here:

"At the 00:18 second mark of that clip posted from Twitter (or as soon as the ref holding Subban turns his back to Panetta) Panetta flails his arms out mimicking a gorilla while following Subban around.

It's there. I don't really know why so many people are pretending it isn't. And, even if it isn't clear to you from the video it was obviously clear to Subban who loses it (rightfully) as soon as it happens, his teammate Nico Blachman (stand up guy) who isn't even on the ice but explodes off the bench to attack Panetta and at least one of the refs who immediately announced a game misconduct on Panetta for a "racial gesture.""

Thank you, that is much clearer. I just couldn't see it

There’s other videos floating around that clearly shows what the guy did. His teammates did nothing and let his ass get beat, there’s no debate that he did in fact do what he did to Subban

That first statement from the team was embarrassing, hope the Rangers cut ties with them and get a new ECHL team. I’m sure there are plenty of other teams that aren’t crap like the Icemen clearly are

Fair points. I would hope that the team has taken the initiative to find out what the players saw and heard. If it's clear to the players on the ice that this incident was being reported accurately, then there would be no reason for the team to wait for an "official" investigation. Unfortunately, the new and improved statement is silent on that.

Yeah, around the 18-second mark is what I was describing earlier--where they're separated, Panetta is off camera, comes back, and is off again, and then in there Subban is losing it. All I see from Panetta is him maybe doing something with his arms by his side?

To be clear, I 100% believe that Panetta did what he's accused of, that people including the referees saw it, and that he deserved to get his skull caved, and to be released and not play again. I'm just commenting that I can't really see it in the video.

They’ll most likely pick up the Savannah Ghost Pirates for next season.

The "doing something with his arms by his side" is him pretending to be a gorilla. You did see it. It's there. If you need the additional context clues mentioned to get you to 100% that's fine but it's there.

As I posted on the main boards, I don't know why people are pretending it's not there.
