Tyler Wall. If my beer league goalie would concede the first 2 goals the way he did... jesus. If it weren't for COVID, he wouldn't be anywhere near the AHL. Really hope he can turn the corner sooner rather than later, cus totally not liking what I see from him.. terrible.

Couldn't agree more. Second goal Wall can't control rebound leading to goal. First goal, I saw twice and still can't figure how it went in. Somehow high over his shoulder and dropped into net. Pack had the opportunity to clear the puck in both cases and didn't. He was terrible last year and it hasn't gotten better.

Pack down 3-1 and mostly outplayed. The Pack goal was a nice play by Robertson to find Fritz below the goal line who finds Luck uncovered and he puts it in. Nice play. But not many of them in that period.

D pairs: 2-4, 3-20, 24-49
Lines: 11-10-48, 8-9-21, 28-19-7, 55-81-96

And now it's worse as Greco and Pajuniemi have been recalled to the taxi squad.
Pack gonna be thin up front for a while, then overloaded as some guys demoted and the cavalry of Cuylle, Othmann, Rempe, Korcak, Vierling. Grubbe trickle in after midMarch. Also maybe some NCAA guys(Trivigno?), Henriksson, maybe Krav, ?maybe Edstrom?

Huska starts in goal. Berzolla and Elmer replace Greco and Pajuniemi. That suggests the Skinner may move up to forward again.

Much better effort from Hartford taking a 1-0 after 1. The goal on the power play with a great pass from Bitetto finding Ronning breaking in on the back door. The Pack hit three posts, Ronning on a breakaway, Reuschhoff picking up a loose puck and getting off his quick shot and Taylor on the backhand. Richards stopped on a short handed break away. Only one tough stop by Huska who stopped a breakaway. Stopped all the shots you are expected to make.

Looks like Hartford rotated 7 defensemen and 11 forwards.

Not watching the rest of the game but encouraging start.

Definitely thought it was Ty's goal but they still have it credited to Richards who was the man tying up the defender on front. I thought for sure Ronning banged it in on the back door, but my feed always sucks so I never know LOL.

Hartford got the much-needed W last night against Utica, probably the best team in the AHL. 2-1. Whelan from DaGiacinto and O'Leary was the GWG.

Crazy Labrie got a two-year deal, he's pretty old. I thought that was a possibility when the Pack cut him though, that an SPC was waiting for him somewhere. Honestly I thought the Pack would give it to him, but I can understand why they wouldn't do two years.
That was my thought, too, after you explained the timing. They did a guy a solid.

Pack signed 24-year-old C Jacob Hayhurst to a PTO. He played 4 games with Springfield this season, registering an assist. Has primarily been an ECHL guy, with 23 points in 42 games split between Wheeling, Greenville, and Worcester between this season and last. He played his final college season at Michigan after spending his first 3 at RPI. Listed at 5'10" and 180.

In addition, the Rangers call up Mike Richards to the taxi squad. Presumably Hayhurst takes Richards spot leaving Hartford with 12 forwards for tonight's game.

While I understand why the Rangers would call up Richards I am very disappointed for Ty Ronning that he didn't even get a sniff.

As of now the Pack roster has 3 goalies with Wall back (suggesting to me that Shestorkin is ready), 12 forwards (only 4 with NHL contracts including Elmer) and 9 defensemen (not sure why they haven't released Fortunato) so three defensemen will be scratches unless one is moved up to play forward (I'm looking at you Hunter Skinner).

I'm scheduled to go to the Pack game in Hershey in 10 days. I sure hope the team is not playing that game with this roster.

Couple of notes from the Pack's ECHL game tonight.

The goal from Saturday night that initially was credited to Ronning and then changed to Richards was changed again to Bitetto from Schneider and Ronning.

Tanner Glass behind the bench as an assistant with Steve Smith acting as coach.

Brassard in net with Wall as backup. He has looked good and did so again tonight.

Nils Lundquist wearing #13 and playing with Robertson. That pair looked good but not overwhelming. Fortunato and Taylor are scratches. Skinner again playing up front with Whelan and O'Leary. Not sure how that helps Skinner's development.

0-0 after 1 with the Pack outshooting Charlotte 10-9. Couple of good chances for each team but the goalies have been perfect. I continue to be impressed with Reuschhoff.

totally agree on Ronning and Skinner Ric.
I think Ronning would welcome a trade from NYR to be honest. I think pajuniemi might be close to passing him on the internal depth chart.
Skinner back on offense is just puzzling to me. Hasn’t he upped his game on defense the last 2-3 weeks?
I know taxi squad killed their depth, but some of these moves are puzzling to say the least.

I think earlier in the year I heard Jeff Marek talk about the players who had asked for trades from the Rangers and he mentioned Ronning. But I haven't heard or seen that anywhere else and maybe I misheard or misremembered Marek. Ronning might have been the MVP last year and has played very well this year. He is a marginal NHL player at best but I think you want to reward your young players. They can't really believe Anthony Greco is a better player. Ronning has to be very discouraged.

If you want to develop Skinner why wouldn't you make him the top dog on defense when you only have AHL and ECHL players as there were for a few games and let him try to expand his game? He played a couple of strong games on defense and then he is playing forward because Hartford doesn't have enough forwards?

I liked Austin Reuschhoff last year and don't understand why he continues to get third or fourth line minutes. At best he might be a fourth liner in the NHL but he uses his size to play a physical game and he has a good, quick shot. He started on the second line and scored. I turned the game off after a few minutes of the second period and he was moved up to the first line to replace Ronning. Perhaps Ronning was injured or maybe pulled mid game because of covid.

From a development point of view I haven't liked many of the decisions made by the Hartford coaching staff over the last two years.

James Sanchez hasn't played in several games. I am guessing he is injured which is why they have been dipping into the ECHL.

I haven't been watching lately. With the taxi squad being added at the NHL level, there's usually only 2-3 guys in the lineup each night that are legitimate prospects.
