This may answer the Sykora thing.
Yeah. They're all kids--him, BMB, Barbashev. They weren't going to play so the team let them go home. They can relax and spend some time with their families before ramping up training over the summer. I don't know why anyone thought these transactions were unusual or anything more than they were.

That Garand stock is rising pretty high for me, if Halak doesn’t come back would he realistically get a look for us next season?
I hope not. I am no expert but I think young goalies need as much ice time as possible. Let him be The Man in HFD for another year or even two. If there is an injury in NY, he can come up and be the Number One or One-A for a stretch.

Jax eliminated

so some/all of Lindbom, Gahagen, E.Brodz, Tardif, DiGiacinto may join Pack
(but Pack's season may end tomorrow/wednesday)
Henault seemingly injured, hasn't played in quite a while

Are they still in it?

I've been staring at the bracket for ten minutes and I have no idea how the Calder Cup is supposed to work.

This is the most convoluted shit I've ever seen.

down 2-0 I believe it is a best of 3. They are home tonight. Hopefully they can extend the series.
Yeah I don't understand why they have the "bracket" set up like that on their site.
Still better than the NHL.com site but I guess that doesn't say much.

I found a bracket on Wikipedia that at least makes some sense.

It's still convoluted and 23 teams is a horseshit number, but I can at least see the direction it's going in.

Atlantic and North divs in East Conf
Central, Pacific in West Conf
Each div whittles down to 1 team, meets Conference peer

Pack current series is best of 5, so as they are down 2-0, they need to win 3 straight to advance

Yeah the AHL playoffs are weird because they have substantially uneven divisions. Atlantic has 8 teams. North and Central have 7. Pacific has 10. Travel and associated costs are a major factor for minor league teams so evening the divisions out isn't an easy task. They try to give everyone a fair shot to make it. Having those playoff games also increase revenues for the teams which is a big deal. The format isn't ideal but once you understand the gist of it, it's not so bad.

Pack dominated that first. PP is trash though.

1) do you guys see bobby trivigno ever getting a shot at the big club? He kinda reminds me of an pest version of tyler motte. Hes fast as hell and all over everything.

2) mcilrath is being a scumbag. Too bad rempe isnt in tonight

Domingue saves a Penalty Shot early 3rd in 1-1 game

... but allows 2-1 goal less than 60 later

... and another, Pack down by 2, w 11 mins left in 3rd

the exact type of player the rangers desperately need added to their lineup

I really don't know why the Pack went with Domingue last night. I listened to the 1st period on the radio and then watched the Petes/Knights keeping track of the Pack game on the AHL website. Not to critique Domingue but IMO Garand was the Pack's playoffs MVP. I don't know who else could have been and you don't sit your best player especially when you're on the verge of being knocked out of the playoffs and Domingue hadn't played in about a month. Hershey easily outplayed the Pack in the first two games but Garand played well---I could get Edstrom in for Henriksson and Hillman in for Clendening which the Pack did to change things up but they didn't need to change out the goalie. The Pack were the better team last night but perhaps would have lost anyway as the Hershey goalie was the star of the show but the Bears only had a handful of good chances and it seems to me that Domingue was rusty.

Seriously why the hell do you put a cold Domingue in net, great coaching choice there, gave up 3 goals on 16 shots.
