Uhhhhh......

@drosennhl: "This was an llegal forearm to the head delivered recklessly and forcefully," Shanahan says in the suspension video.

Now watch Hossa come back in their next game perfectly fine.

EDIT: With regards to the "explanation"...You slow any play down and it looks dangerous...

Its that he gets on the repeat offenders list and if he ever slips up , it will be a much more severe suspension

He basically uses it warning on a play where there shouldn't have been any warning/suspension

How about that player who elbowed Kesler a couple games ago? Did he get a suspension?, that was as much as a headshot as anything i've seen. And actually intentional

I don't think it's a permanent list anymore. I think that under the new CBA if you don't have another incident within two years or something then you're taken off "the list".

Wait a minute, isn't this Hansen's first time committing something what may warrant a suspension? so shouldn't he had gotten off with a fine and a warning? I recall weber getting a fine and warning from his hit on hansen last season, along with another fine and warning from his hit on zetteberg in the play offs. What?

But obviously Hansen is such a dirty player that he'll really have to be careful from now on. Malicious intent and such :sarcasm:

Ha ha, Shanny's explanation is a joke. Hansen changed his mind from going for the puck to knocking out Hossa in about .1 of a second apparently. Hansen must be the chosen one or have a super computer for a brain to make such a calculated decision in a nano second.

Hansen gets 1 game for being careless, while Cooke, a multiple repeat offender, doesn't even get a phone call for putting out an MVP for the season. Which play was more careless/dangerous?

Hansen will be in full beast mode come Friday in Nashville. Calling 2 goals for the Great Dane!

I agree with reckless, but the ''forcefully'' is kind of a stretch to make it look more worse than what it actually was.

Hansen should retire from hockey and persue a career in academia. His brain would be wasted playing hockey instead of finding a cure for cancer.

Must have consulted with Brian Burke on this.

MG better be stepping up behind the scenes and making his voice heard about this ********.

I agree with it.

Why are you posting here, anyway? Wouldn't you have a more productive conversation about this on your own board, rather than trolling here?

Hawks fan doesn't want Canucks fans posting on their board. Immediately comes and posts on ours.

Hansen was a bit of a sacrificial lamb here so I'm not really upset about the ruling. With Karlsson and now Hossa, I don't think Shanahan wants players getting ideas about injuring players and making it look like an accident, so giving Hansen the game off at least sends a message that nothing of the sort will be tolerated, even if Hansen didn't mean to injure. BEcause someone else might come along and mean it.
