I have to ask, so many people saying Hansens actions were reckless........how in hell were they reckless? Because he reached for the puck? Because he let hossa skate into him? The game happens at high speed, what did you expect him to do? He would not even have had time to bring his arm down before hossa backed into him! Get a grip people! Why are we not talking about bollig sucker punching Weiss? Was that reckless? Was there intent? Why isnt he getting a call from the punishment police? Is it because everybody thinks Weiss is a scrub? Why should that matter?

I meant if he were to get suspended, the only thing the league has on him is that he should've been more aware of his surroundings; thus, he was careless. I agree with you though, it's sort of impossible with the game being so fast.

Knowing Coach Q's whining press conferences I bet it shares similarities to his last over blown comments:

"I think we witnessed probably the worst hit in the history of sports there, Hansen ruined a good hockey player and absolutely destroyed him. ... Never seen anything like it."

Kerry Fraser put it pretty well, in his article on tsn, why the roughing penalty was called, and likely why it will be a suspension, even though it shouldn't be.

The roughing penalty (while justified) was arrived at after the fact because of some residual sensitivity surrounding a missed Raffi Torres headshot on Hossa last year in the playoffs which resulted in a 25-game suspension.

Don't think he needed to justify why his brethren needed to make up for missed call, but the 'residual sensitivity' is clearly why there is a hearing.

I wouldn't be surprised with one game suspension. Others have gotten away with much worse for nothing. NHL remains a joke when it comes to discipline and reffing.

Anyone got the Bollig sucker punch on YouTube?

I'm more pissed that the canucks can't find a legit fighter. Volpatti is decent, but he's not intimating enough, and weise just sucks at fighting. If the team has someone like freaking shawn thornton it would deter a lot of BS like the bollig cheap shot from happening.

1 game I think is fair. I'd say harsh still but it's not unreasonable considering the carelessness of the play. Anything more would be crazy in comparison to what the hillbilly got.

Weise got punched in the face 5 times before his gloves were off, and still handled himself in the fight, IMO landing the better blows.

Shawn Thornton wouldn't deter nothing ask John Scott's fist.

Then why wasnt Cooke suspended?

I don't think Hansen should get a suspension, but if the NHL is going to give him one, the only justifiable thing I think they can suspend him for, is for being reckless. I guess the same ruling can go for cooke too if they were to suspend him.
I don't think cooke should have gotten a suspension either by the way.

If Chara didn't get suspended for being reckless, there is absolutely no justification for Hansen to be suspended for being reckless.

I fully expect a suspension though.

Agreed.

I used to respect Shanahan but even he's running a Mickey Mouse operation,

One rule for the stars and one rule for the ordinary joes.

No surprise - that's how the real world operates as well.

I guess what I wanted to say is that, if weise were shawn thornton, bollig wouldn't have initiated **** with him, and that's what I want. I want the opposition to be intimidated by the canucks a little, and not push them around because they know that it would be weise answering the bell.

Make my day.
Chara's was 20 times worse and arguably the damage was intentional. I sure hope Hossa is concussed if Hansen is suspended, for the leagues sake because it makes no sense otherwise.

One game to keep Hawks fans sedated, and to try to keep from future games getting out of hand with revenge etc.

Had Hansen broke Hossa's neck against a stanchion it would have been ok, but bumping into him while reaching for a puck is not? That's what the NHL has taught me over the years. #messedup
