And I'll be cheering for Calgary every time.

Same here.

They fought hard this year to make the playoffs after 1 bad year to get Sam Bennett (who is a Leafs fan growing up). Not to mention they're easy to like with their hard effort and maybe the fact there's been Leafs/Flames connections going in and out of that organization over the years.

Flames have always been my 2nd favorite team (no i don't have 2 teams). Def rooting for them extra with Johnny Hockey, Bennett, and facing the Oilers so much.

I'm on your level but you know what? even if we pick Marner, I ain't even gonna be mad cause just a month ago I had Marner at 3.

Yeah, I wouldn't be mad with Marner either. I'd just prefer Hanifin/Strome over him. Can't miss with any of them though.

I have to imagine that everyone spelling Hanifin as "Hanifan" has never seen the kid play.

Regardless, if Arizona take a forward, I'd expect them to take Marner over Strome. They like 2-way players who compete hard, that's Marner, not Strome, plus I just see Marner as the better player/prospect.

Personally, if Marner's there I take him, if not I prefer Hanifin to Strome. Strome has nice size and vision, but he scares me a bit. Slow-ish, soft-ish, just doesn't seem to have a great compete level, and I wonder how much less he would have scored without McDavid. If he was on another team, he very well may have been a 1.3 - 1.5 PPG player, and with the concerns about his skating and compete level he'd probably be more of an 8th-12th overall pick than a 3rd-5th.

I spelt Kadri's name as Nazim for years. Don't get me started with Niewendyke.

Tyler Johnson and Johnny Hockey are both smaller than Conner Brown, Willie, and Marner. TJ and JH are both both excelling despite their size. Having said that I would go with Hanifin. Leafs as is have no problem scoring even without 1c. Notwithstanding 2nd half collaspe.

Does it really matter the pick will turn into a pumpkin anyways the Leafs are ****ing cursed there no other way to describe it, this organization should just fold up, dry up, and die. Being raised a Leaf fan has to be some kind of abuse! can we get reparation for this??

DO NOT want Hanifin, and Strome will be gone at #3 for sure.

So who cares really. We did not not get McDavid... **** it... Another player that will do nothing for the team. Bust!

Both are very good prospects who should develop into excellent NHLer's. However, IMO Mitch Marner is close to being an elite talent that you can't pass up on him. My only concern is the injury Marner suffered in the playoffs...was it a concussion or not, and if so how serious?

Way too soft.

Someone should tell Steve Yzerman that then so he can trade Johnson (5'9" 182), Kucherov (5'11" 165), and Palat (5'11" 174) before its too late. They will probably never amount to anything in the NHL.

BTW what was the stat, 7 of the 10 smallest teams made the playoffs this year?

PS, Marner is way less soft than Strome.

So people are really wanting to take a skill winger over a big #1 C and potential #1 D?

Haven't we learned anything over the past few years? You don't build around skill wingers. Take the C or D. I want Hanafin as him and Rielly on D and Nylander, Kadri, JVR, and Brown in the top 6 is pretty good base for the rebuild.

Marner has 16 points in 7 games at C in the playoffs
Strome has 11 points in 9 games at C while having the luxury of playing on the same team of the best prospect since Crosby.

But yes Marner is a small winger who plays like Kessel according to some people :shakehead. I think Mark knows Marner is the better prospect and will take him if available. Hunter won't be blinded by size. Not when Giroux, Johnson, Datsyuk, Kane, etc. are in the league

If hanifin is available you take the BPA, also D men take longer generally to round into form than forwards so doesn't it make sense to start stockpiling the back end at the start of the rebuild? Especially when the dman is the far and away BPA?the Leafs have had 1C's here, who's the last top tier #1 D that's been on the roster?
