I'm torn. A week ago I was convinced and set on Strome now I think I'd be happy with him or Hanifin/Marner.

I trust Hunter on this one.

Looking at what Arizona has on defense in their system and NHL level...and considering what kind of forward prospects Arizona has. I actually think there is a chance they take Hanifin.

If Arizona takes Marner (Which I believe they will): I want Strome
If Arizona takes Strome: I want Hanifin
If Arizona takes Hanifin: I want Strome

So people are really wanting to take a skill winger over a big #1 C and potential #1 D?

Haven't we learned anything over the past few years? You don't build around skill wingers. Take the C or D. I want Hanafin as him and Rielly on D and Nylander, Kadri, JVR, and Brown in the top 6 is pretty good base for the rebuild.

Strome isn't Mats Sundin. Sundin was a good skater. And after we trade Kessel, we're going to need a skilled winger. The return on Kessel can bring us a center, maybe Barzal.

Whoever we get will prob be a bust. Just used to it at this point. I wanted Strome the whole season but I'm not gonna get excited for any of these guys. It takes more than a shiny prospect to change a poisoned organization.

Leafs need a re haul on the roster. We'll see if Hannifin/Strome/Marner/etc will do well here, or turn out to either be a bust (Schenn) or get dumped on by the team, play great and then go down with the sinking ship (Kadri)

Still want Marner. If Arizona takes him, then Hanifin. Then Strome.

People are forgetting Marner is naturally a center, prefers to play center, has been playing center (before getting injured) and has the smarts/skills/playing style of a center.

He's also an electric game changer that can single-handedly take over games. Strome is nice and all, but Marner is elite IMO.

I would rather just take the best player available. If you think Marner is incapable of playing C, you should take a look at his playoff games, where he played C. He also didn't play with Domi or Dvorak. And oh, he's still 4th in OHL playoff scoring.

If we didn't have King Joffrey (Nylander) then I could see them going for Marner.

I think it'll be Strome or Hannifin

i don't even care. I wanted Strome or had we won obviously McDavid. We're not getting either. Hannifin will prob come here and be a bust.
Rielly has a higher chance of becoming a "bust" than Hanifin. He's simply a lot more better all-around and stronger at moving the puck as well.

Hanifin, as many stated, is near-generational. He's a franchise talent and does it all. I still find it unlikely for him to drop to #4.

Why would having Nylander make any difference on who management perceives to be the best player available? What's wrong with having Nylander and Marner? Too much skill?

I'm just ticked off. Not really making much sense atm. I'm getting it out of my system lol

I do think Hannifin is a great prospect for sure. Would love to have him. Luke Schenn just has me scurred for any top d prospects coming here from now on.

Hanifin could literally skate circles around Schenn.

Boy? I was saying all along Marner over Strome, but what if Hanifan is available? Defence from the NCAA don't make me feel overly confident & what about Marner & his injury, is that an issue at all.

I still pick Marner, I think he could end up with the most upside & be a superstar of the draft.

It will be interesting to see if the Leafs can acquire NJ's pick, that may solidify Marner's as a pick.

I'm just saying having Nylander might have an impact is all. I love Marner and would be thrilled to have him. These things go into the decision making process though. Don't read into what I say too much cause atm I'm just saying ****.

“The thing with Noah is he’s hard to, what I would call … pinpoint a comparable to him. He’s a good mixture of a lot of hall of famers and a lot of future hall of famers,†NHL central scouting director Dan Marr said, going big and bold. “For me, he’s a real old school, old soul player who is excelling in today’s game, and when I say that, he just has that composure on the ice with and without the puck and is never rattled. He rarely makes mistakes, he’s rarely out of position. And when he does get into a position where he has to recover, he can do it quickly. “

It's hard to pass up on player like Hanifin with a scorer like Marner/Strome on the board still. If Strome is somehow available you take him but between Marner and Hanifin, that's an incredibly tough decision but I am starting to lean towards to Hanifin.

Connor Brown is small too. I think you bring up a valid point. Still, I hope they go with upside over need.

I have to imagine that everyone spelling Hanifin as "Hanifan" has never seen the kid play.

Regardless, if Arizona take a forward, I'd expect them to take Marner over Strome. They like 2-way players who compete hard, that's Marner, not Strome, plus I just see Marner as the better player/prospect.

Personally, if Marner's there I take him, if not I prefer Hanifin to Strome. Strome has nice size and vision, but he scares me a bit. Slow-ish, soft-ish, just doesn't seem to have a great compete level, and I wonder how much less he would have scored without McDavid. If he was on another team, he very well may have been a 1.3 - 1.5 PPG player, and with the concerns about his skating and compete level he'd probably be more of an 8th-12th overall pick than a 3rd-5th.
