Kings News: [Hammond] LA Kings Have Hired Darryl Sutter As New Head Coach

The Flames went from 94 points his 1st full season with the Flames to 103 points. Took San Jose from 80 to 99 points. Thanks for the intelligent insight though.
 
Sutter supposedly asked Kings staff for players' scouting report.


What would you have prepared for him? Remember, he hasn't seen TV for one year, he has never even heard of Voynov or Loktinov.
 
For the first time in 5 years I am starting to question Lombardi. Like they said on hockey night, he hired a guy 29 other teams were NOT after...No one was after Crawford or Terry Murray either. So this is his 3rd coach that no one wanted? I don't get it.

Why can't we go after coaches that other teams are bidding against like Dineen, Boucher, Eakins, etc...

We still might be if this season is a wash.If we miss the playoffs or even fail to make it out of the 1st round, Lombardi is done, as will be Sutter. AEG really went all in this season, and expect a return.

I'm just throwing this out there, but could you see Luc as our GM[not that I'd want him]?
 
Let's just face it, some of you guys will never be happy no matter who our coach was. Some of you guys just love to complain, plain and simple. Why, why, why???

Heck, some of you guys still are complaining about the Richards deal.

Agreed with your assessment. I think this is Lombardi's last stand. Nobody thought the season would unravel like this, this is a disaster. My question is if Sutter comes in and the Kings continue to stumble does Lombardi pull off the old save my ass Dave Taylor-type trade?

First of all, those guys are often so clueless that it hurts my brain to listen to them. Secondly, Sutter is a headcase, he wasn't talking to anyone, not even his own brother. I would not be surprised if Lombardi is one of the very few numbers he still has saved in his mobile phone.
 
If Sutter gets players to buy into the system and finally get a Kings logo tattooed on their ass and play with some of that passion that is in their mantra, then I'm all for Sutter.

This team has ZERO identity this season and ZERO passion. Even then games that they've won they're was still something missing, yet some of you just chalked it up as a W in the win column. Heh.

Those Dave Taylor trades in '06 weren't too terrible. Certainly not "mortgage the future, save my job" deals; Grebeshkov and Tambellini for Sopel and Parrish, then later, Lehoux for Jackman.

Of those six, only two are still in the league (Sopel and Jackman), both of whom were on the "To Kings" side of the ledger.

EDIT: Oops. Sopel is in the KHL. Still. Those deals weren't awful.

Darryl is the only coach who has held Iginla accountable. Keenan, Playfair, B. Sutter have all let him roam, but not Darryl Sutter. And he'll be the same with Doughty, Richards, et al.

If the Kings turn it around between now and the deadline I could see them persuing Iginla. Although at this point, the two team mirror each other's records.
 
i wonder if AEG will spend money this offseason. we keep spending more and more yet our team gets worse.
 
My two cents is Welcome Aboard Mr Sutter.

I am happy to have him. As far as passion to win and personality goes he is the exact opposite of Terry Murray. He is a passionate fiery coach who has a good track record and while not my first pick I am way willing to see what the guy can do. I am hyper critical of coaching and I like this hire. It is the middle of the season (close to it) and this is a good hire for what was out there.

If this is a fail then we will see a complete change in team mgmt likely as soon as this offseason.

He is a King now so he is one of us and deserves the time it takes to get established so we can see what he can do.

Say what you will about Sutter as a GM, but he really is an amazing coach. He won't play an offensive system, but the guy finds ways to win.

One of these segments includes Warrener talking about Darryl. Personally, I think he can do wonders with the talent he has to work with. (As long as he isn't making trades :P)

I honestly think Penner will do amazing under him.

From the way this team is playing, I honestly don't think any coach will make a difference. Ahd yes Dean is gone in my opinion too if we don't make the playoffs.
