Good trade for Hamilton this might bite London

If Winterton comes back and performs like he can, it should work out well for the Knights.

Humphrey adds some good depth to their forward ranks.

I’m not going to question the Hunters. They run a good program in London.

I like what the Dogs get here in Testa and Lloyd. Luca will be given every opportunity to thrive here. Lloyd was not playing much and he was somewhat buried in London but is a former 3rd rounder so he’s not a throw in. Dogs will move out a dman before the deadline so Lloyd will slot in and have a chance to carve out a role going forward.

It will be good to make the playoffs so these guys get a taste and some experience.

Also getting a 2nd in 26’ adds to the cupboard.

I’m sure there are a few more deals to come.

Do you know when Winterton is scheduled to return from injury?
Lloyd is a smooth skating D-man who just couldn't crack the lineup given the Knights' depth at D. He played with the Jr. B Nats this year. Testa did not get a chance to prove himself in his rookie season. I expect him to flourish in the O.

Winterton should be back fairly soon. Fans said January, so should be any time now.

And the chips begin to fall. All the best to Winterton and Humphrey! I can’t say I expected Humphrey to be traded but I’m also not surprised that a team had him in their sights. Good luck to them both, and great to see them join Diaco.

As for Winterton’s return, a few months ago the general timeline was roughly Christmas break. More recently there was rumour that he could be around now, which suggests he’s on par. Seeing as the trade was made prior to the deadline, I suspect he is near ready since London didn’t wait any longer.

Overall I’m happy with the return. Very happy to see a 16 year old 1st rounder forward, and a 17 D who both need opportunity to play.

I see Test listed as a C on Elite Prospects. Did he play C in London or was he on the wing?

Testa didn't play much in the games he was dress, but I'm pretty sure he lined up at centre more often than not. I was a little surprised at how raw/timid he was considering his success at Jr. B as a 15 year old, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a Luke Evangelista-esque jump in his play next year. He's needs to get a few steps quicker and add a lot of strength, but so do a lot of players at 16.

You can tell he thinks the game better than the other players he was playing with, but was not at the level where he could take matters into his own hands.

Ryan Winterton missed half of last season due to a shoulder surgery but then returned & went on to play the last half of the season & playoffs & Memorial cup but what has he hurt this season to miss the first half ?

Seems like both teams get what they want from this deal.

If the Bulldogs can add another '06, by maybe packaging 2 of the OAs, should be a real nice group to build around.
Hamilton does things right. Great management. This lines up with the usual 2 year rebuild after finishing 1st the year prior. Things shaping up nicely for a 2024/2025 run.

I was born in Hamilton and spent a decent amount of my earlier youth there. The girlfriends family is from Caledonia, so it’s been nice to be back in the area around the holidays again in recent years. We have been thinking about locating back to the area in the future. Good to know one of my “hometown” teams knows how to run a franchise at least 🤣

He injured the same shoulder.

I like this trade (although my wife will be heartbroken because of Humphreys). It's the first of many, but I love that they got what should be a quality 06 in return. They also really need Dmen, so Lloyd should get a big oppurtunity.

Probably many more to come, but it needs to happen.

Best of luck to Winterton and Humphrey.

And like that, after that absurd argument earlier in the thread

Anyways, it's a shame to see them go, but it has to happen, and to be honest, I think we are coming out of this one decently. A 2nd round pick certainly helps fill the cupboard back up, and getting a young forward who shows promise and likely will get more time here seems like a win too.

Not so big on trading Humphrey as he seemed like he'd become the vet next year, but that's how it goes. I think Winterton was still a question mark after his injury, but I hope he bounces back well and it's good to see both will get another shot at winning another championship.

It will be interesting seeing the lines tonight. I expect Testa will be in but I’d be a bit surprised about Lloyd due to the numbers game at D at the moment and him not playing in the OHL this season yet.

Winterton is also expected to make his season debut versus Hamilton on Friday

Could very well be Morrison’s last game as a Dog this evening. Sad to see him go but he has been fantastic during his time here.

For funzies, I’ll predict he goes to Ottawa or Peterborough along with Moore for multiple 2nds and 3rds and a player.

Grushnikov stays in Hamilton.

Dear Hamilton Bulldogs
Hope you had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year
……either sit Morrison and White tonight because you are trading them elsewhere or trade them to the Petes after losing tonight’s game. We would prefer the 2nd option.
Hope you enjoyed Mason McTavish last year.
All the best

As much as I want to see Morrison in an Ottawa uniform, I think Morrison and Moore to the Petes in a Lardis or JVV deal makes a lot of sense.

If we are going to do this, let’s really do this!
How about
JVV + Guo + Panwar + Spearing + picks
For
Morrison, White, Hayes and Grushnikov

Take your time……I’ll wait

Kiltys acquired Lloyd from the London Nationals. So that's where he will be playing for the time being.

Likely till you move a couple D

That's what I was thinking. Should see one or two D on the current roster moved out. Our current #6-7 D situation is already not good. Going to be some growing pains after the deadline.

Should be a young team getting young guys tons of ice. Looking forward to seeing Testa flourish
