The sandbox is better than most if not all other halos tbh. Only a couple bad weapons. Like every other halo, some are situational. Weapons like hydra and heatwave do really good damage to vehicles which I don't see a lot of people using. Cinder shot and skewer are both very strong power weapons, the shotgun is good and should be use full auto, the mangler is also really good 2 shots plus a headshot is a kill and its a one shot into melee kill which is quicker than double melee. Commando should be buffed to what it was before but it's still pretty good in BtB. Shock rifle is amazing, and the stalker rifle is also quite good. Disrupt or pistol is really good on vehicles and its good on enemies because their shields recharge a lot slower.
Yeah Fiesta has really opened my eyes to a lot of weapons (except Ravenger and Plasma Rifle). Shock Rifle has become a favorite.

So PC players did a bit of digging and managed to figure out the configuration for SWAT is apparently already in the game:

If you launch Steam in offline mode, you can play custom games with Bots and Tactical Slayer, which is the new name for SWAT, is on the last page of game modes. along with a few elimination game modes like classic elimination and dodgeball.

According to them, this has now taken the place of what was there last week in...Fiesta. this has led to speculation that they're going to do what some feared in locking playlists behind events.

If they're seriously planning locking fan favorite modes behind events and drip feeding them that's where I draw the line. There's nothing wrong with having them on rotation (master Chief collection rotates between a few special ones like fiesta, grifball and stuff every week) but locking them behind crappy ass events to try and draw traffic/create a fear of missing out might be the worst idea 343 has ever had of that's what it ends up being..

Still trying to be optimistic as I refuse to believe a company would be that stupid, but in this day and age who knows

Is there a thread discussing this? Would like to read up on this some more.

That Plasma Rifle is actually much better than I thought. You can two-burst players with it.

Its tricky to account for the travel time, and its a terrible dueling weapon, but if you have eyes on an enemy and they havent seen you yet, you can erase them in short order.

I returned 4 flags in 3 minutes in a tanked game all because I just didn’t sprint with the flag. It’s amazing how many people give themselves away

I hope they bring the old multi player rankings from H3 back
No joke - probably not as good as you lot - and I don't have the skill anymore, but I legit got myself to level 43 back in those days. I am pretty proud of that considering how many people modded their way to level 50 in that game.

The metal-ranks don’t convey skill well enough IMO. the number system was much more straightforward and obvious for what skill of player you’re up against

It's a pretty small thread and largely speculation but I dislike how much sense it makes

I thought that was going to be a much larger thread than it was. Swat has been in every Halo game. Should it really be a surprise that its showing up?

I just still fail to see how they wouldn’t have dedicated playlists and what not here soon when its been in every game. Obviously they’re listening to criticism so I don’t think they’d be that stupid. Could be wrong but we shall see.

I’m reserving anger until Dec8th. If the playlists we have now are what we have then, I’ll be pretty annoyed.

Weapons are starting to grow on me a bit.

Mangler: Once this weapon clicks it's f***ing deadly. I think the one thing people aren't realizing is you don't need all headshots to kill with it. A headshot + 2 body shots is enough to finish someone too. Love it now.

Disruptor: the damage over time makes it a lot better than I thought it was. Was trying to use it to farm assists and I ended up on a killing spree with it lmao

Skewer: found this to be especially useful against sword hoes. Oh you want to run it down mid at me? Ha ha unga bunga gun go brrr. It really amuses me that in a futuristic setting where we have plasma cannons, lightning guns and other stuff, the banished's most power gun is a literal harpoon. Liked it before but now I love it.

Ravager: this gun is still garbage and should be thrown into the nearest space trash can.

Needler: seems to be a hell of a lot more effective than it was before? Range for the needles to lock on/trigger supercombines seem longer than they were before.

Pulse Carbine: #notmycarbine. Someone actually killed me with this gun earlier and I was gravely offended by this.

Commando: the bloom is still a pain in the ass but the best way I've found to make it work is tap the trigger if you're challenging at range and to let it go full auto at shorter distances. The recoil will usually carry it right on to the head.

Bulldog: I know people say this gun is better if you use it full auto but I feel like I do better just tapping my shots. Still love it

Heatwave: might be better to use the horizontal fire? Can't seem to figure it out. If anyone has an idea which is better that'd be swell

A pre release where the first "season" has started and stuff like ranks can already be attained. Along with introducing events already.

Instead of being a contrarian to everything posted that could be mildly construed as criticism maybe you should just stop.

Edit: should also be noted that 343 said in a waypoint blog that this is all of the day one content, so take that as you will

I have been very critical of several areas of the game already but I'm waiting also to see what happens at launch to know for sure. The playlist issue is definitely not going to be an issue after the game is released or so they say.

I've played for about 2 hours so far this morning and can't complete any challenges because I haven't been put in any game modes where I could complete them. I've made sure I'm in the correct playlist too. It's so frustrating not being able to play what I want.

Yeah the only problem i have with the game right now is the lack of playlists. And idgaf about the challenges, I just don't want to play slayer lol.

I haven't been this into a shooter in years.

I did get pretty into Warzone but I’m all about this game. Had a long session with friends last night and just a great time.

Are you more or less frustrated than you’d be from experiencing long matchmaking waits cause the population is spread too thin across too many pots?

They’re never going to isolate modes in their own playlist. Not unless they have a vastly larger population than anticipated.

If its bothering you that much, use a challenge swap to get a different challenge.

Halo shouldn’t and I’m pretty sure doesn’t have that population problem.

Halo hasnt had a massive population since Halo 3.

I say this as a Halo fan. It’s been lagging behind in population since COD: Black Ops outsold Reach on Xbox 360 alone.

It doesn't need to be the most popular shooter in the world to allow for more specific match searching. The MCC allows you to only select certain game modes in your search.

and that only 10k players on pc (don’t know about consoles) while halo infinite has 100k (which will fall eventually). But you should only group them up if like there’s no player base on the other game modes.

Yeah, and the wait times on MCC are significantly longer than Infinite right now. Infinite has an average of 10-20 seconds from search to match entry.

I have no issues with the current pots, honestly. Id like some bad-luck protection introduced to ensure players arent stuck playing Slayer too many times in a row, but other than that, its all good.

I would happily take longer wait times if it meant I could choose to play what I want and not have broken lobbies.

MCC wait times arent even bad. With 6 games (+ H2A) to choose from there's bound to be something thats a bit slower to queue up for. I find it's generally Halo 1 because Halo 1 is jank as f*** lol between its Golden gun level magnum and spawns that make zero logical sense along with the busted weapons like the shotgun

You can usually cue up for 3, 4 and reach pretty quick.

I'd much rather wait a bit longer than being forced to play CTF on launch site for the 4th time in a row
