I would have happily paid for Infinite.

I had several reservations about it being F2P, the biggest being concern over how big of a problem cheaters can be in those games (spoilers: they're already here) and if 343 could actually curb it enough. Microtransactions was down the list but they've kinda made it an issue with how blatantly greedy some of it is.

I'm also tired of the argument that customization doesn't matter when Halo has had a pretty deep system for that since 3 as has been stated 45 times in this thread already.

But because it's free people aren't allowed to complain...which is also a tired argument

RT's...

1) Fiesta is a genius mode for Beta and i wish it was here at launch. No better way to try out all the different weapons and utilities without a bunch of sweaty gameplay.

2) The Bulldog is the best shotgun in Halo ever

3) Gravity Hammer radius is way too large

4) For me the cosmetic complaint only matters in this sense...IMHO the current ranking system is too obscure in its current form and it seems to me that the most blatant reward for progression (winning games, good K/D, playing games, etc...) manifests in the cosmetics you currently unlock.

Personally I think that stuff is mostly boring and would much rather have a traditional ranking system. Regardless i think the complaints are valid to a degree. It shouldn't be a deliberate mega-grind like SWBF2. But this stuff is all just cosmetic. At the end of the day it shouldn't affect your gameplay

Honestly if someone is over the age of 15 and complaining about cosmetics in a video game then its just pathetic. I'll gladly take the trade off of being able to play the game on Steam for free for not being able to make my character look like John Wick.

These redditors have been a great source of entertainment for me lol

Only kids should care how your/their character looks.

But it isn't "almost everything" that is behind a paywall. It's cosmetic items that you can't even see when playing the game.
That's the only thing we're talking about here...

Fiesta is in seriously rough shape, just blokes running around with thrusters carrying sword and hammer. Because the maps are so small, literally every gun in this playlist is useless except these two.

I just tried Fiesta for the first time actually. Massively disappointing. I was gonna taper off till release but i totally forgot the event was bringing fiesta with it.

It's not even the hammer/sword problem, (the hammer actually kinds sucks considering its windup) It's the fact half of the weapons are f***ing garbage and aren't even fun to use. You compare this to the absolute lunacy super fiesta is in 5 (i think that's the one with the variant weapons from warzone/pve also included in the pool?) and this is just...laughable. Even fiesta in 2 and 3 was fun because of the sheer variety. The excuses "BUT THE WEAPONS ARE MORE TECHNICAL!!" or "every weapon has its purpose" are also garbage.

Seriously, compare the weapon pools of 2 through 5 to this and you'll see the key to everything is redundancy;

in most of the games every human weapon usually had a covenant answer to it or at the very least a weapon that fills a similar role sans the melee weapons. This results in a more balanced weapon sandbox because there's more counters/answers to playstyles instead of the shit you have in infinite

Sniper rifle -> Beam rifle

Battle rifle -> covenant carbine

rocket launcher -> fuel rod cannon

SMG -> Plasma rifle

Pistol -> plasma pistol

DMR -> Lightrifle

In Infinite, you have a bunch of weapons that fill a very specific niche (some of which are either detrimental or outright useless in regular 4v4 modes) and then a bunch that absolutely shit on everything else (AR and BR at the top) creating what feels like a sterile combat sandbox.

The more i play this, the more i get the feeling it's chasing the competitive scene too hard and sacrificed the more causal side of Halo. Just like they did with when 5 initially launched.

I love Fiesta mode. It’s chaos. The Ravenger is completely useless though. It was great in the flight but they nerfed it big time. Don’t really care much about the event, will just play Fiesta so I can get Slayer.

The swords and hammers are very easy to counter with the repulsor and shooting those guys back and taking them out with a gun.

The Ravenger is horrendous in terms of finishing someone off with it. I will hit someone with the entire clip and can't kill them without switching to another weapon. If I get it now in Fiesta I would rather jump off the map and respawn.

Nobody asked for the game to be free, hell I bet most here pay for game pass so they've already paid for the game :laugh:

Players clearly enjoy customizing their character, so I don't know why you need to act like it's not a part of the game.

You still can customize your character without paying money. There are free unlocks on there but not enough apparently for some people. If you continue to play the game you will continue to see more events to unlock additional items. We can go back to Halo 5 that cost $60+ with loot boxes and the skins were always trash. Halo Reach took years to unlock some of the top skins - they had max credit restrictions daily. Halo was never COD... it was always a grind to unlock stuff. If you like the game and enjoy playing set aside some $$$ to get the skins you want. That's the model and the great thing is you can sample the game for free without committing any money.

I don't like most of the new weapons either and I know they are adding more. The Skewer is probably the best answer for the Sniper. it's a bit harder to use but a one-hit kill. I like the Mangler as well. Most of the others excel at bringing down shields but you need a BR or Pistol to finish.

What they need to add a launch - an actual daily challenge for people that log in every day outside of the 50 credits. Additional weapons or better balance on maps. Break out objective and slayer playlists. There has to be a win credit bonus, otherwise, I agree people can be focused on challenges not related to winning. There should also be a performance credit.

A set of skins for getting kills with specific weapons. Give people more to do outside of just the challenges.

The Halo Reach system was much better, brining that back without making the requirements for some of the items so absurd would have been perfect.

I have no issues with all the modes going into pots.

I just think there should be some kind of bad-luck protection built in. Like, if you play the same gametype 3 times in a row, the next one will be different. If you go five games in a row without playing a gametype, you’ll get it next game, etc.

Basically, I like Oddball, I just dont want to play it 5 times in a row, lol

I know I’m old school but I was hoping with the MCC’’s resurgence and popularity, 343 would’ve brought back a 1-50 ranking system. It was so simple, so straightforward, and it was so cool to get your next level.

I don’t understand the appeal for whatever this new system is.

Isnt the current ranking system the same as Reach?

It basically just replaces the 1-50 numbers with an icon. Dont really care too much about that.

Still having a lot of fun, really hope they make the progression better still though. Also more maps and modes pls. Including old ones.

The sandbox is better than most if not all other halos tbh. Only a couple bad weapons. Like every other halo, some are situational. Weapons like hydra and heatwave do really good damage to vehicles which I don't see a lot of people using. Cinder shot and skewer are both very strong power weapons, the shotgun is good and should be use full auto, the mangler is also really good 2 shots plus a headshot is a kill and its a one shot into melee kill which is quicker than double melee. Commando should be buffed to what it was before but it's still pretty good in BtB. Shock rifle is amazing, and the stalker rifle is also quite good. Disrupt or pistol is really good on vehicles and its good on enemies because their shields recharge a lot slower.

I hope they bring the old multi player rankings from H3 back

Nope. Once you gota high enough level, people refused to play with you. I had got to 40 or 45 on Team Objective, effectively boosted by 3 guys whom I've played with since Halo 2. One of them just started on the playlist and the other two had n00b accounts. We won like 35 matches in a row until one idiot said aloud "we haven't lost yet, have we?" and we lost the next one and that was enough for the other three of playing Team Objective. I wouldn't play with other n00bs either because like all other "rank wh0res", I didn't want it to go down.

My main gripe atm is not being able to select the game mode that you want to play. It gets a little old having objective modes come up that people clearly don't want to be playing so they just focus on getting kills. Objective playlists were a blast because everyone in them wanted to play those modes. The MCC has great options for finding matches, I don't know why that hasn't carried over to Infinite.

Pre release!

Yeah, there would be all these ghost accounts to rank people up. Achieving 50 was really challenging and I think I only hit it in Rumble.

Pre release!

Yeah hopefully it changes when the game officially launches. I'm not sure what the point of limiting it this way right now is, they're already monetizing the game and they certainly have enough players to support more playlists than they are.

Pre release!

A pre release where the first "season" has started and stuff like ranks can already be attained. Along with introducing events already.

Instead of being a contrarian to everything posted that could be mildly construed as criticism maybe you should just stop.

Edit: should also be noted that 343 said in a waypoint blog that this is all of the day one content, so take that as you will
