So you want all the benefits of customization without paying for it??

That is the ideal way to purchase a game, you hand over your $80 and they hand you a complete game. That's how games used to work, now they take the options away and make you pay extra later. I don't see the "win" for the consumer there.

There is zero reasons for them to keep adding stuff then.

I don't really care if they keep adding stuff, personally I'd prefer they just release a complete game on day 1, but nobody cares about that anymore.

I have no problem with a system where they release new armour pieces and let you buy them individually. Putting all the ones people actually want at the end of a battlepass just means you're paying $10-$25 whatever it is for that one thing you wanted.

Also, no where does it say there will be zero customization without battle pass, you just won’t get battle pass items. You can also view them and decide if they are worth it or not.

I'm sure you'll have a few things by default, but far less than games would give you for free 20 years ago (or even other games now).

this is much better than years ago when they would charge us $20 for a few more maps, although Halo never did that.

Sure. But I don't see why either $20 maps or battlepasses are "wins". There are certainly great games that have neither of those things...

This is all cosmetic nonsense that you can’t even see when playing. Lol. Who cares

Clearly people care since they'll spend $100's on battlepasses, lootboxes, etc. Customizing your character is fun, buying battlepasses or doing battlepass chores isn't.

then you sir should pass on the game or get with the trends. Based on other FTP games, you are over exaggerating everything

Lmao. I'm still interested in the game, I just think that aspect of the game is bad.

All of us that figured it out are paying $1 a month for game pass for years. It's very simple to try and game and forget about it and if it's only costing me $12 a year, I don't mind paying for a battlepass here and there. We used to pay $60 and sometimes $100 for the uber edition and then they would try to charge us later for maps. Nothing else was added to the game. This system is so much better it's not even a debate.

Personally I'd be happy to pay the $80 for a great game, rather than have incomplete games come out with the excuse that "it's free on game pass". It would be unfortunate if game pass leads to the quality of games decreasing over time with more and more of a focus on F2P type monetization.

I'm of the opinion if you played one Halo campaign, you've played them all. The over and back through a level is so annoying, I have nightmares of dying over and over again in the same place with grunts giggling in the background. I'll probably never touch this one, just really interested in the multiplayer although I may have to play campaign to unlock shit.

Everybody would prefer a perfect, complete game day one, but the truth is that's not realistic and never have been.

Even in the 8bit and 16bit days, there were revisions to games that were simply released in later production runs. They never publicized what they found and fixed, but they were patching and updating games even then.

I don't really mind if a developer and/or publisher decide to streamline production to ensure that does ship in the box is polished to a fine shine, and then add the content they had to cut later. It gets sticky when they overcharge for content that should have been there, but that's a case by case basis.

Plenty of games have come out without missing content that they promise to add later or charge for. It's not unrealistic to release a completed game.

Usually the changes were pretty minor, and they couldn't leave out something like co-op and promise to add it in later.

I'm not saying games shouldn't be patched as more bugs are found, or that extra content can't be charged for later. Releasing a 100% bug free game is literally impossible and there's nothing wrong with expansions/DLC. The ability to update games after the fact should result in better games, but it's also being used as a way to justify releasing broken and/or incomplete games.

Yea back in the day you'd pay $80 for a game and then barely get any updates, fixes, or patches post game. Battle passes allow a steady income, and thus content and patches roll out at a good pace. This battle pass system looks a lot better than most. I don't really get the battle pass hate especially in a game that's free, you don't have to buy it.

During this weekend, September 23-26, our goals will be to receive feedback on Arena, Training Mode, as well as the new Halo Waypoint web and app experiences. Next weekend, September 30 - October 3, Big Team Battle will go live and take it up a notch.

I can't even download it currently, maybe the site is under heavy stress. It's definitely slow and I get error messages.

I got into the bot matches and it feels great. The grappling hook is addicting. The times for the multiplayer matchmaking suck for me so not sure how much I’ll actually get to play that.

I kinda have to stop myself from playing this so much. It’s incredible. The sound, the movement, it even looks great on my Series X. Going to sink a ton of hours into this game.

Was able to play it with my friends and MP is very fun. There are still some concerns I have like some of the guns acting way too slowly such as the lightning gun and the gravity hammer. I also dislike everything about the AR in terms of getting shot at with it, it sounds like a SMG and the pebble rubbish sounds doesn't really prepare you in terms of how much shielding it is eating away. I am also very concerned that the maps for the arena and BTB are not intertwined in the playlists (this happened in Halo 5 and was a total turn off for me in dropping the game). The maps this time around are a hit or miss, I quite liked the Mombasa and Hydroelectric one. I really dislike the Spartan training facility, it's a really poorly designed map that is awfully narrow and very opened. The Mombasa also has some problems that Halo 5 had in terms of it designed strictly as a platform map with every walkway leading to a square room. The map is super generic as one of you lads said, but it plays really well.

The game does a lot of good though and one of the most major is that the AI bots are actually really, really, impressive. I am playing only on Spartan level and even though I haven't played in years with some rust the bots are a serious yet fair challenge. I can't say enough good things about training mode, but I really hope they add more features when the full game comes out such as stats and being able to add extra life for the opposing team or different handicaps. The grapple-shot is an absolutely amazing piece of addition to the game and whoever designed it should get an auto-promotion.

The game feels like a mixture of Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4 all put together. And even though I absolutely despise Reach as a MP platform (up there with Halo 5 as the worst MPs by far), I mean that in positive ways.

Feels really good.

The overall pace of movement and combat is similar to Halo 5, but the TTK is much higher, closer to Halo 3. Fire-fights drag out a little longer, get a little messier. Team-shooting on a pre-made team is gonna be huge vs randos with no mics.

The new power-up system is a nice balance between Halo 3, where they were pick-ups on the map to fight over, and Reach where you had abilities at any time. Not having to worry that there’s a better situation of a one-use item around the corner encourages players to actually use the equipment, instead of just hoarding them like in Halo 3.

Love the new side-arm.

Miss Spartan Thrusters.

The new map they tossed in tonight, Behemoth, is easily the best of the bunch. Halo 5’s maps were not good, even though I enjoyed the multiplayer gameplay.

Behemoth is what I am asking for in this game, a medium sized arena map. It's amazing, but I was testing some of the bots today and at the moment they do no get into vehicles. Hopefully, they do in the final version because it was easy grabbing the ghost and just going to town.

I am keeping myself out of the loop, but do we know if the Promethean weapons are going to be in this game?

Best Halo 5 map was Plaza (the Asian city with the green neon flare) I thought, but even though I whine about the maps all the time I think I still prefer them than the rubbish that was in Halo: Reach. The biggest problem is that the gameplay from Halo 5 didn't work on those maps as you had players either conducting two aspects which made the game unplayable. One, they would sprint around these connect the dot maps and spartan charge and two, it was a grenade clusterf*** in the worst way possible. I am really liking the nades better thus far in this demo.
