Im not even talking this thread only. I’m talking every other thread everywhere. People are amped up like it’s 2013 and we’re 10 games below .500 and Ladd is turning pucks over at the blue and taking lazy penalties.
I've grown to accept that is the way it will always be. The GDT after puck drop is the worst. Still a lot of great posters around here, though many don't show up near as often as the used to.

Sabres have had the EXACT same schedule as the Jets this week. She is pointing facts not being "upset" with anyone.
Jets have been traveling and Sabres at home. Very big difference.

Anyway, the Jets have 5 minors which tilted the ice on the eye test.

Jets were even with them in shot attempts 5v5 adjusting for score and venue. Buffalo is a notoriously high high shot team.

This was a good game.

Jets main problem was on D. Buff was awful again. Chiarot and Morrow were a catastrophe.

Hellebuyck was terrific.

Loving Copp and the 4th line.

Scheifele and Wheeler played too much with long shifts, but man did they have a monster 3rd period.

"“The numbers don’t look good when they play together,” Maurice told the Winnipeg Free Press’ Mike McIntyre after the reporter suggested a shake-up.

Can someone elaborate? Or explain why coach think of it like that??

The line played
2 period last year when wheeler and scheifele crapped the bed.
1 period another last year.
1 period this year with 2 shift.
There was 1 game though pre season when they played a full game together. The line raked 13 points againts the flames.

Edit: Laine Schiefele Wheeler together

I'd agree with this assessment minus the 4th line. Copp and Appleton are fine. Lemieux jsut barrels around oblivious to what his line mates are doing for the most part.

Roslovic and Little have no idea how to make a pass to Laine. They have no vision with the puck. Both physically talented, but complete reactive players. Not the type of player you want with a sniper.

WHat a tool PoMo is. wow. He's 20. And PoMo figures he just figure it out himself. Like it's not hist job to make this team better.

"Maurice’s rationale is he wants Laine to navigate his out of the wilderness himself rather than being given a compass in the form a cushy assignment — “to feel what the pressure’s like when things don’t go well. To develop a tool box,” the bench boss put it."

We all know PoMo is so well known for developing elite snipers. I want what he is smoking.

Did Perreault play? He's supposed to bring a bit of offensive pop to that line but he's been a passenger for a while now.

Well he isn't wrong about the numbers not being great but as you alluded the sample size is non existent. Funny how the numbers only matter for certain combinations. He has been known to leave poor result combos together for a significant amount of time without changing it up.

I think Roslovic has some vision. Little is too straight line and is not a very good passer.

I think you're overly harsh on Lemieux. He's actually made a lot of smart plays with the puck, he's been very good at forechecking and puck control along the boards, and he creates room by driving the net and with his net front presence. Copp and Appleton have been very good and have a lot of hockey sense. Appleton's speed has improved dramatically over the past few seasons.

I despise hockey players like Lemieux. THey aren't unnecessary. The Jets have many players superior to Lemieux. He has done nothing to deserve being put in the lineup in the first place. Play Lemieux 14 minutes like if we have an injury on LW. Yeah that would be sweet. One thing Lemieux is good at is dragging the puck around the net, maybe he'll wrap it around maybe hold on to it and lose it in traffic. He rarely makes a play that helps his team mates.

Someone earlier referred to him as a worse Evander Kane. If we go with much worse it is close. Kane can get actual shots off and is an ice tilter.

I don't understand the Russian writer's rating. Am I an Idiot?

@robertocarlos - Not at all! Dostoevsky's writing is sometimes oversimplified as representative of the darker side of human nature. In reality his view of the world is founded not in absolutism (fuelled for example, by repeated discovery of illuminating fact) but rather in a reliance on shadowy ambiguities - superstition, and its offspring, puck luck and jinxes.

On the other hand, Dickens' writing is one great example of the polar opposite of Dostoevsky, eg, clear lines of thought and evidence, cause and effect is nicely linked. I doubt very much that Dickens would enjoy hockey, because of the overwhelming flood of chaos that may overwhelm any given game.

Dostoevsky's writing is heavily fuelled with luck and chance (good and bad), creating twists and turns of plot: the result may be the result of some unseen chaotic driver, hidden like a tumour even in the most scrupulously laid plans. (I can't imagine coaching hockey, it would drive me bonkers).

Thus:

The more chaotic and ambiguous the hockey game, the higher the number of Dostoevsky guys I give it. Today was relatively mild in terms of "Dostoevsky-ness" with only two. Refs, I'm looking at you.

EDIT: It is often stated that this forum is home to some prime kvetching after a bad loss (or even an ambiguous win!). I think Dostoevsky would love this atmosphere of nearly constant angst.

Are you new here? Far too sensible.
Yes only I couple of years on HF but I followed the Jets from the first WHA game when I lived in Winnipeg. It's weird when I lived in Winnipeg ... the Jets fans were the best in the world and knew their hockey not once did we ever call down the team even when they were bad. That's why I'm shocked when I see this garbage on the HF calling them down ... it must be the internet. Lots of miserable people behind those keyboards ... get out and have some fun and enjoy life.:)

i just got back to toronto. not the best game to be at live. 3rd period was pretty entertaining. i was sitting 10 rows up behind Wheeler when he got that tap-in. wow. so impressive to see that pass.

the summary:
Props to Buffalo for their food. shout out to Cole's, an original Buffalo gangsta. the Clancy plus the wings. hot damn.
Very very good Jets representation in the stands. i'd suggest close to 1000. some good chants. Sabres' fans started booing when the "go jets go" chants were starting. congrats, guys! heard the guys behind me complaining about how their arena's now invaded by Jets, Leafs and Habs' fans. we've made the big time!
and to break the ice, i started a "Maple Leafs suck!" chant because, yeah, f*** the Leafs and their hog-headed fans.

game was punctuated by the drunk guy in the row behind us falling down into our row as he left to go home. hope he wasn't driving.
and if a Buffalo Sabres' fan can explain why the hell the usher in sec 103 blows up a hot pink inflatable guitar and carrier it around and dances during the timeouts, i'd appreciate it. it really looks...uncomfortably odd

I know people are upset with Maurice for keeping Wheeler and Scheifele together but have you noticed the Black Hawks lately 7 straight wins they finally put Kane and Toews together and look at the result.

A win on paper, a moral defeat in my books.

Helle outgoalied the Sabres. The Sabres were the better team. Expected goals were not close: 2.26 - 1.27 in favor of the Sabres.

After this game, since Jan 1st, the Jets are now 27th in the league in Corsi and 27th in the league in Expected Goals. Basically at the level of a lottery team and getting worse lately.

No changes will be made, Niku will not get into the lineup at the expense of Morrow, the top-2 lines will continue to be in the doldrums.

I just hope this shows Chevy not to go wasting assets at the deadline. That is now my main concern with this team.

You really love expected goals.

In your view, are Minnesota and St Louis top 5 teams in the nhl?

Helle back to form. Biggest takeaway from this trip.

Helle had a .918 December and a .918 January, so the corrections were already taking place to a significant degree, but definitely, this road trip he seems to be even just a little better than that. Or luckier too, that's possible. Whatever it is, I'm happy to see it. Like soaking in the sun.
