I can tell a lot of you who think like this have never actually had "athletes" in their family or as friends. You talk about them like they are some different species.

They are human. They behave like... shocker... humans.
No shit they're humans, but when your getting $7.35M a season, the least you could do is act like an 'athlete' for 10 f***ing minutes.

Still looking for his first ES goal this season.

Not the argument.

Again. Athletes are human. Regardless of how much money they make, they will perform worse than their peak if mis-managed.

That is what the discussion is. I would appreciate it if for once you would stay on topic.

I’m being honest here, I’m really happy that EP and Brock have clearly gave up

Like seriously, who do we need more now? Players who have gave up already and don’t mind losing or player that only play at their best when there’s no pressure on the season anymore? (Aka Brendon Sutter)

f*** professionalism
If I hate my workplace and my boss, I would also half ass my effor
t

Is this you talking about your work career or you talking about what you think the hockey players should do?

So..he's skating around 'unable' to perform because of the mental burden of the coach or the manager..?..Is he that mentally weak..?..Best friend of Petey's is Quinn Hughes,..he's turned his game around...outspoken Miller is playing at a point a game..Why aren't they affected?

Straw man.

Athletes are human beings and like all human beings, they perform better under the proper management. This isn't some crazy theory. This is human nature. You can deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect deflect like you always do but it doesn't change the fact.

Humans (athletes are human after all) perform worse when not managed well. Those who are still performing well under bad management would perform even better with good management.

Kinda of a both
Also Petey ain’t dumb, he knows even if he gets bought out tmr due to poor effort, other teams would line up to call his agent. His still has a long nhl career ahead of him

You act like my 2 year old toddler here.

You're weren't saying that athletes are affected by mismanagenent- which is obviously true.
You were saying that Petey has checked out because of his personal vendetta against our horrible management team.

It's a ridiculous narrative. If any of these guys had the mentality to give up because they didn't like Benning's signings or trades over the last 8 years they wouldn't have ever made the NHL. That isn't the same as not performing well because of the environment of the workplace. Astounding you don't understand the difference.

Young player hits a wall and struggle all the time, usually they rely on their coaches to help them break that wall.

Sadly for EP, this organization has no idea how to help young players in that part

Not what I am saying. This is what people are talking about when they say you don't argue the point.

Isn’t the same?
So you think Pettersson would still struggle in a competent organization like idk…a current middle of the pack team like LA?

If not liking your boss leads you to half ass your effort then that says a lot about your character full stop.

I also don't believe the conspiracy theories in these threads that the team has quit on their GM.

I'm not sure there's an instance of players quitting on a GM in recorded history.

Now, Benning plays a part in setting a culture that is toxic and a toxic culture erodes trust, but if you think it's a conscious. decision, then you don't understand a single thing about the mentality of elite athletes.
Why is it that big of a deal when a player quits on the team because of incompetent bosses?
NHL players went on multiple strikes as a group in the past 3 decades..

You are saying this because you aren’t in their boots, athletes no matter how rich they are, are still human with human emotions

I dont have the personality that quits when things start to get tough. Its a personality trait not a general human trait. If it was a human thing then the whole team would be playing like Pettersson which they arent.

Funny you said that
Pettersson was very good during the bubble playoff, he shows up when the stage got bigger and tougher.
Quitting on incompetent boss is different than quitting on tough task, it’s being smart instead of a corporate man.

not everyone reacts the same under incompetent boss and toxic workplace, some choose to p it their head down and continue to do their best like Bo

This is no ordinary workplace. Your goaltender is giving it all every single game while JT Miller puts his body on the line. Pettersson signed a 3 year deal and is making 7.5 mil and made those remarks about being a winner. There were numerous opportunities to get your point across before the season but that pitiful bullshit there is infuriating.

We all want Benning and the coaching staff fired but come on...

This says it all right here
