14 months now since we seen this guy play a decent game. Let's face it...he's done. Unlikely to return to form with this franchise...

I'm sorry but this kind of overreaction is hilarious to me. He's done at 23. Time to throw him away in a panic trade, like that hasn't backfired on the team before.

This guy has legit quit on the team. 11 months is not a blip. Just don't see him improving unless the GM gets fired or he gains motivation from being on a new team.

Petterson was pretty good last year. This teams even strength scoring cratered after he went down
 
He’s fragile physically and mentally. I don’t believe he’s quit on the team but he has hit a wall, he’s not handling the fame and fortune well.
 
Looks about 170 pounds wet. Someone get this kid on a high protein diet and some weights.

really got to wonder what he did all summer.

This management has poor communication with it's players, it's been proven. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't reach out to Petey or give him any type of expectations, advice or any guidance after last season and into the summer. He could of just sat around playing video games for all we know

EP is my boy but the guy clearly either is disinterested or just lost because the difference in how much he moves his feet these days(with and without the puck) compared to his rookie season is unreal. I also remember hearing about he switched to a longer stick, If true, I wonder if that’s thrown off his puck handling
 
He looks like crap out there and he doesn’t really seem to care much, this usually doesn’t end well for the fans.

But what does he want though? He got the contract he wants, he was happy we got OEL, still playing top PP and with the lotto line most of this season. I really can't think of anything else short of firing the coach, but is that really how you want to run the team, let one of your player decide who should be running the team? I don't like Green but I also don't think firing him just o please a player is a good precedent to set.

Honestly, I’m willing to give Pettersson the benefit of the doubt until a new coach is hired. Yeah yeah he makes millions to play blah blah. I can’t even imagine how draining it is to head to the rink everyday and see that snug ass POS Green talk “systems”. A coach that literally suppresses talent and scoring.

If Pettersson plays like this with a new coach and system then I’ll be very worried. I think pretty much everyone is checked out right now.

Besides, Pettersson’s comments about wanting to be on a winning team and definitely aligning with his play right now, as he’s probably so fed up (as many others likely are).

I also think it’s funny how this is the same fanbase that was laughing at the Leafs fans’ treatment of Marner and Matthews and then do the same to their own. Pathetic but expected.

Has EP shown anything of what he was in his first 2 seasons in the past 11 months?

Make no mistake. Pettersson is capable of being a PPG player on a team that has a) depth b) structure and c) a good coach. I think his development here has been royally f***ed and is now a flawed player and now he seems to have checked out of this organization. I would guarentee this guy would be a top star if he was playing for the Islanders right now.
