Watched the highlights.

Said it a few weeks ago and I will say it again...This is no longer a franchise player in the works. I was wrong. Totally wrong. This guy has checked out. Says he wants to win but is softer than a Jordan Eberle and has a shit attitude to go with it.

During the off-season I wanted EP to get the longer-term deal and not Hughes. He looks awful. Does he want Green fired this badly or is it an injury, something else? If I remember correctly he looked a bit off at times last year.
I think he wants different regime which is why he doesn’t want a long term deal
This goes wayyy back to the Toffoli incident to start with

Players play well when there is something worth playing well for.

At the end of the day, these players are employed by the Aquilinis and you don’t try your best for garbage people.

Pettersson wants to play for a winning team. A supposed franchise player, but for some reason is a problem rather than a solution. It looks like he sat on his ass waiting for a contract renewal rather than taking the off-season to train and work on his weaknesses. He is still extremely weak and gets pushed down easily. I don't think he has lifted the iron at all this year. He looks noticeably slower and seems to have developed a bad attitude. I don't know what to say, other than Pettersson has been "EXTREMELY" disappointing. Rather than looking like a leader, he is looking very entitled.

EP was becoming one of my favourite players in the league, and it was just a bonus he played for my team. Got some real Datsyuk vibes from him for a while. Now Im not so sure. Would still like to see how he plays with new coaching and/or management.

Watching Pettersson's struggles out there right now, I'm beginning to seriously wonder if there is some sort of malaise in the team dressing-room?

What's most jarring about his performance these days, is the laissez faire attitude he seems to have. Not much passion or fight in his game. But he isn't alone. So far this season, Horvat and Miller look like they've plateaued...Sure they pick up points, but it sometimes looks like they're just gliding around out there.

Schmidt spent one season here, and apparently couldn't wait to get out. They let a lot of quality leaders go in Tanev, Markstrom, Stecher, Tofoli etc. And the guys coming in to replace them seem to lack the same commitment or drive.

I think players after awhile come realize that they're toiling in a hopeless situation. The team's upper management and coaches have created an environment and a culture where winning consistently is almost impossible. It takes its' toll.

Winning?

I’ll settle for playing a little defense and the odd big hit.

I wonder if his wrist never fully healed and it will lead to surgery eventually. He’s really weak on his stick. He was never strong but it was always hard to take the puck off his stick before now it just goes flying off it. He can’t thread passes either and his shot has crap accuracy.

It's 100% this. The guys don't want to really give it their all for a Mickey Mouse organization. Miller and Horvat straight up called out management last season. Toffoli and Stecher both talked about how, more or less, unprofessional management was. Alex "I never want to be traded" Edler just decided that he actually wanted to get out of here. Schmidt and Holtby couldn't get out fast enough.

It's a joke organization and all the players know it. The only one on the ice who isn't bothered by it is apparently Demko.

This x1000.

I get that we want to make excuses for why he’s playing like shit, if Pettersson was playing to the level we know he should be at, I think a few of these games might look different. Lack of winning resulting in a lack of effort makes him a loser player imo. Do I think the current regime needs to go? Yes. At the same time I can also see that this is not the same player we have watched the past few years, there’s no logical reason why and it’s starting to get baffling.

honeymoon is over.

If this guy is going to make snubby comments like " I only want to be here if were going to win" then he needs to be accountable for his crap play.

He is healthy scratch worthy right now with all his turnovers and battles lost, fumbling of the puck.

Had a greedy summer and decided to hold out and skip training camp only to throw it back to the fans faces by playing disgusting hockey.

Pathetic.

At least Hughes is backing it up.

Green has to start benching him for poor play. Stop playing him 5 mins on the PP if hes gonna not battle and make turnovers.

When the management and coaching staff always makes excuse how do you think that will rub off on the players? I don’t blame him one bit for the “bad attitude” and “selfishness”.

This is comparable to the oilers in fact. Why they ruined so many talented prospects.

so true....but the same goes for Brock, Bo and Hughes...they look like they are fed high doses of antidepressants and are just zombied out with no emotions, I'm not even kidding. Bo is pale as shit it's like he doesn't get any sunlight, Petey looks like a cancer patient and Brock has had enough hardships in his life so who knows what's going on in his head. (No I don't actually think they are hopped up on anything) it's just what it seems like. Just zero f***ing emotion from anybody most the time

Forgot to mention Hughes, the kid rarely smiles, when he talks its monatoned and quiet, he just has a blank stare 90% of the time. Zero emotion

The guy spent 3 whole seasons with Eriksson as his role model, what do you expect? The truth is there are probably 10 really good reasons why he's checked out.

He wants out. Everybody knows that.
No. This is the 1st year of his 3 year contract.

He wants change.

And the ammo that he's using to effect that change is by being UNCREATIVE and BORING.

The power play is the most entertaining component of a hockey viewing experience and ours is trash.

This kid is pretty damn special if he can turn his give-a-f*** switch on and off just like that.

And nobody's gonna tell Petey what to do or how to play hockey except for Petey.

He's the most skilled guy in our org and he knows it.

Instead of complaining about Petey's play, everyone should be praising it because he's embarrassing the shit out of the Aquilinis.
