I was at the game today. He was terrible. Weak on his skates. Slow decision making, weak shot. Outside of that one pass to Podkolzin he was a negative or doing nothing every time he was on the ice. Id even take him off that #1pp unit.

Put Hoglander in his place.

Something is clearly 'off' with Pettersson....but then I've never guys like Horvat and Demko so pissed off after a loss. And those are two of the most level-headed, rationale guys on this entire roster.

Something is happening in the locker room.....has Green lost it? Are the players buying into whatever system he's trying to implement out there? Seems to me that whatever system they're trying to play, they have zero confidence that it will work.

When you have a player you know can be a superstar who is in a funk... and you know that your management and entire coaching staff are garbage....

You try out a new coach and a new front office before you even consider thinking about trading the over-the-hill 22 year old

That would be the logical thing to do but this is the Canucks

I actually thought that Petey had a better game and was working hard. He's still off his game and can't seem to score.

Yes, he sucks right now, just brutal. Don't see that star player that we saw during the rookie season.

Still not concerning, but if we reach the 20 game mark and he is still like this, then damn, it's a good thing we only signed him for 3 years.

Sure his play has fallen off a cliff but have you seen how cool he dresses on Instagram?

His favorite thing to do right now is get the puck, stop skating, over stick-handle, move towards multiple defenders and either lose the puck or make pass that misses the mark.

It's actually insane how bad he looks when you compare to what we've seen from him. We are all waiting for a switch to turn on so this season has a chance - the real fear is I'm not certain he's coming back.

It's weird to watch a player completely forget how to play the game. Have to wonder if there isn't something else going on beyond the obvious (distracted with social media, pressure to live up to contract, etc).

He's so easily knocked off the puck, he's generally disinterested in fighting to retrieve it, can't handle the puck or take a pass. The only thing that hasn't abandoned him (although it's deteriorated) is his passing, but only when he has time and space for the most part (his set up to Pod last night notwithstanding).

Just seems... disinterested. Very out of character and perhaps it's medical in nature. Won't deign to speculate further.

It’s weird how player attitudes and work ethic always seems to follow the same path in this organization.

First season head down working hard then it goes downhill pretty fast.

See blobtanen.

I hope he’s trying to effect real true change in the organization.
It’s the only logical explanation considering he JUST signed a 3y contract.

I hope/believe this to be true and he just became my 2nd fave recent Canuck behind Loui Eriksson of course.

I’m sure Loui was stoned like all the time.

Loui should mentor Petey.

Do you think Covid may have had long term impact on Pete? His drop in play seems so bizarre. I standby that even last year he wasn't as bad, he just seemed to be having bad luck.

Possibly. At the very least, he should have his fitness tested.

Someone needs to fly Markus Naslund over here to talk with the kid. We all know he’s struggling but he needs to at least do something. When Naslund struggled he tried to be physical and even got his ass kicked in New York. Petterson isn’t showing anything , too busy thinking about his next Instagram post and feeling sorry for himself.

If Pettersson really is trying to "effect change", why are some acting like he's doing God's work? Yes, a full house-cleaning would be exactly what the doctor ordered but do you really want that at the expense of your best player acting like an unprofessional, petulant children to get it?

Now, I have mostly scoffed at the suggestion that he's doing this on purpose. But if you're watching him out there on the ice, it's obvious that something is very wrong. Either way, I'm growing more concerned with each game. This isn't "rust".

If EP wants to act like a sullen zoomer, I say put him on a line with BaileyJay and see if that turns him on. If nothing gets him going, trade him. Even if we don't get a 1C back, which is unlikely, Miller and Horvat are not a bad 1C/2C option from a production standpoint. The team badly needs a young top pairing RHD for Hughes, and that should be the centerpiece of any return.

His effort after bungling Hughes’ pass right before Duchene’s goal was disgusting.
