So your saying the best players should be coaches? How did that work out for Gretz?
Maybe some more experienced guys than Glass and Ortmeyer for one of the richest teams in the league? Where did these two hone their craft? Tanner Glass was still playing hockey in 2019. The joke of this is that they could have anyone they wanted because money isnt an option and they got the least experienced guys they could find.

Two nights rest and the opponent is the worst team in the league and in the second night of a back to back and THAT is how you come out and play? Sorry, the flu isn’t a good enough excuse.

The offensive group is completely lost without Kreider.

We've been saying this since before Lafreniere was born. Remember when it was David Quinn's fault?

I could do with or without Gallant but it's obviously not coaching.
Quinn wasn't a very good coach. Gallant is not a very good coach. Not mutually exclusive. I do think there are deeper organizational issues, such as the need to make the playoffs every year at any cost and the lack of vision beyond that point.

Lafreniere has struggled but Gallant is trying to get him going and he’s gotten 1st line usage and and PP1 usage since Kreider got hurt, despite not deserving it, and he’s doing absolutely nothing.

He’s just out there getting his cardio in, nothing more.

Completely squandering this opportunity.

Assistants are also extremely underrated, especially tactically and in-terms of shaping skills.

We hired a bunch of old head nobodies while the Devils hired the best young assistant in the league.

What??? We just went through a f***ing rebuild. We missed the playoffs for several season. And for what? f*** rebuilds. What’s the point when your 1st OA turns into a bust. And your 2 OA is no where close to his potential.

McDavid would be a 65 point player on the Rangers.

Our board is trying to figure out why.

The Rangers don't seem to be trying to figure out why.
Hey man, we haven't exactly had the best luck with draft picks either and now we have your former guy in charge of rebuilding our team. Slafkovsky is struggling just as Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk before him, Caufield fell into our lap thanks to Philadelphia passing on him, kid is a sniper but was nearly ruined by Ducharme last year, Marty came in and he's been on fire ever since. The draft is often a crapshoot but it's not like the rest of the teams in the league wouldn't have taken Laff and Kaako where you guys did.

He needs to start carrying the puck and trying to actually make plays. Because right now he’s playing hot potato where he’s so scared to turn the puck over that he just tries to move it the second it touches his stick. And he still turns the puck over playing like that too.

Kid has hit serious mental block territory.

Are you sure about even the cardio?

Maybe we need to make a chance too. MSL seems to be doing good things.

Like I said, I think it's deeper than just the head coach but it couldn't hurt.

His only discernible elite “skill” coming out of juniors was his hockey IQ. He’s currently playing with absolutely zero confidence, which unfortunately neuters his one major differentiating skill (his brain) and showcases how average the rest of his game is.

I have no doubt that once he begins playing with confidence again, he’s going to look like a top 6 winger. I’m just not sure what the road to getting there is supposed to look like. Because it’s likely going to require a long stretch of him getting opportunities but still playing poor hockey for awhile, and I’m not sure this city will let that happen without beating him down further. I really want it to work with the kid, but a change might be necessary. My confidence in him developing with the Rangers is waning.
Every other team in the league probably had him going first overall so it is definitely disappointing to see him struggle. The majority of the french media want the habs to trade for him because they want the next french superstar in Montreal so the pressure would be even greater here. Maybe he needs some time in the AHL?

He would need to go through waivers to be sent down.

He has to move it right away because he has severe trouble creating any time and space for himself with his feet. He's a poor skater in all four directions. It limits whatever skillset he does have. Another thing I've noticed is he doesn't have particularly quick hands either. Seeing a guy like caufield and how lightning quick his hands are, it's stark watching Lafreniere in comparison.

I don't know about if he's even doing that, he stops skating and coasts everywhere lol

Marty is lost at times, he seems intent on using 5 forwards on the pp which hasn't worked at all and he has some favs on the team, guys that are useless, Wideman, Hoffman, Drouin and others. He is learning on the fly though with no pressure to win.
