This is three straight coaches now where we're complaining they don't have a system.

I think the organization doesn't produce forwards that can play an NHL system.
Any pro athlete can play a system. It’s about having the right players that fit the system. I’d trade Laf in a heartbeat to acquire a player that fits gallants system.

Trust me the forwards deserve plenty of blame

I thought the first period the Kakko, laf and zib line were dominant. We should have had 3 or 4 goals

The difference between what we see with other teams and us is panarin having point blank and not scoring, on the flip side Caufield buries his chance
Thought I saw Panarin score.

They have to play weird hockey because they don't have any skill.

"All this firepower" is just names on paper. Even the top guys (except Panarin) have limitations in their game in regards to passing and puck-handling. These skills rot when guys get to the Rangers across multiple coaches. This organization doesn't develop offense.

I don't care about Gallant either which way, but I think the next guy would be the same thing.

I think a lot of games just like this under Quinn get swept under the rug.

They had a chance to make the playoffs in 20-21 with like seven games left and they scored three goals.
Those last 7 games the entire team was injured or did you forget?

Anyway the difference between that team and this one (Standings wise) was they lost literally every 1 goal game and now (at least last season) they were good at holding on for the points.

Has there been any evidence that Ortmeyer, Glass and their team have anything to do with coaching and on-ice matters (other than the shit efforts of our draft picks) or are they just the easiest thing to blame?
I'm not saying they are good at their jobs, but it seems to be something bought up a lot for a problem that's well down the list.

Fair point.

Ortmeyer and Glass being in charge of that seems pretty problematic at face value. Our coaches and developers - including the head coach - are full of career 4th line plugs.
How many coaches had a better career than Gallant?

Props though. Your kids showed up, ours are still on a milk carton.
Your goalie is outstanding though and it might just have been a case of being off since Thursday for the Rangers, they didn't play with the same jump I have seen from them in some games this season. What is going on with Lafreniere? The media in Montreal is always pushing for the Habs brass to trade for him but he looks uninspired, to say the least. We just want the highest draft pick possible this year and on most nights we look that way. Cheers.

So your saying the best players should be coaches? How did that work out for Gretz?
I get what he's saying.

The best players are often bad coaches, yes, but I think hiring Ortmeyer and Glass is indicative of what this organization values. Two absolute scrubs who did things and stuff.

It's the values that hurt development, not the coaching itself.

And if you do believe it's the coaching, keep in mind that the people with those values are hiring the coaches.

McDavid would be a 65 point player on the Rangers.

Our board is trying to figure out why.

The Rangers don't seem to be trying to figure out why.

This is true regarding their skill level, and I've said it since before the season even began. I do think their offensive zone scheme should be tweaked but in all reality it doesn't really matter when they don't have enough skill to play a more creative brand of hockey.

He's a defenseman.

Somehow this organization maximizes defensemen.

Meanwhile they're putting cyanide in the catering for forwards.

Even Panain, who does just have can't-teach skill, is a very annoying and flawed player since he got here.

It's not just the kids. The veterans just know how to get by in this league.
I agree. They need to rid this organization of those type of players. Everyone wants the skilled player of the grinder? I’ll take a young Callahan over Laf all day long.

I don’t think it’s coaching. Most ex players regardless if they were good or not know exactly what you should and shouldn’t do.

They're more off-ice guys. Kinda like guidance counselors

His only discernible elite “skill” coming out of juniors was his hockey IQ. He’s currently playing with absolutely zero confidence, which unfortunately neuters his one major differentiating skill (his brain) and showcases how average the rest of his game is.

I have no doubt that once he begins playing with confidence again, he’s going to look like a top 6 winger. I’m just not sure what the road to getting there is supposed to look like. Because it’s likely going to require a long stretch of him getting opportunities but still playing poor hockey for awhile, and I’m not sure this city will let that happen without beating him down further. I really want it to work with the kid, but a change might be necessary. My confidence in him developing with the Rangers is waning.
