If the Habs feel an enforcer is needed they could just sign a plug to play in Laval and call him up when ever he's needed. That said I don't see a role realistically for guys like Neil anymore. Guys like Ryan Reaves on the other hand though are useful, aka tough guys who can drop the gloves and still play hockey.
We have Shaw anyway. That guy had no head, so just send him in. He'll return the cheap shot and then some.

One thing the habs really have to master is communication amongst the blueline, especially since their recovery speed isn't great. It still seems like a work in progress, and will continue to be so with schlemko getting no action.

That's one of the issues that comes with 3 brand new pairings.

Even Sergachev ?
He's way smarter than Sergachyev, but doesn't have all his tools.

Again tonight you see him playing around bigger player to retrieve the puck with his stick, what an amazing player he is.

Galchenyuk playing well tonight keeping it simple and shooting the puck.

Danault is on fire, protect the puck so well on so many occasions.

Hemsky is playing well and hustling around and i like that, the only problem is that some of his passes are bit soft which isn't like him. I hope he can fix that during the season.

Everybody playing well, i feel that Alzner is having a bit of trouble here and there.

Weber is simply dominant, what a defensive player.

He's better than he gets credit for here IMO...very smart player and underrated playmaker
I agree he's better than he gets credit for. Very smart player. But still... he's the kind of guy that is just so damn hard to read where his potential lies.

he looks good tonight from what I've seen. would love it if he could improve on last year. that would be huge for us.
It would be incredibly huge. He's not the "sexy" option on paper, but it would be incredible if he became that.

Don't like the PP set-up much

Should be Weber and Drouin at the point
Galchenyuk on RW half-wall
Hemsky on LW half-wall
Lehkonen in the middle of the box.

Very good to see the team finally clicking with their NHL team. One thing is clear to me though, Mark Streit should have just been given a PTO, he just doesn't look like anything more than a depth defenseman at this point and should no doubt not be playing regularly. In a league where speed is key, players just easily skate past him.

One of better Chucky interviews I have seen. Didnt look pissed off or wanting to be elsewhere. Polite and straightforward.

Shaw needs to play hockey, he's not tough and has a fragile head... believe me.
Dude, I know. I grew up close to Shaw and have always said it the guy could just screw on his head straight, he'd be a great hockey player. I'm talking 40-50 points yearly. The problem is... he gets hot, but then he starts playing like a tough guy, when he's not really that.

I don't generally bash opposing players, but I legitimately didn't realize Dion Phaneuf was playing until late in the 2nd when Gord Miller mentioned his named.

Talk about invisible.

My only problem with Danault is that he just doesn't have the upside to be a top 6 center on a contending team. We see what happened in the playoffs last season, when things tightened up he just didn't have the skill to fight through it. That said hopefully he proves me wrong but ideally he is a 3rd line center.

Millions in extra revenue. Not happening.

I know. But they should try to do like some other teams have done. Play their back to back games at the beginning when they have a surplus of players and then play every other nights with more and more regular players.

That is why watching the first few meaningless pre-season games is just bad for overall moral of the fans !!!

Danault loves playing with Pacioretty. If Drouin and Patch don't click, we could see

Pacioretty Danault Gallagher
Galchenyuk Drouin Shaw

I'm not at all a Shaw fan. But he's been good this preseason.

I don't know what is worse, his contract or the fact that Phaneuf wouldn't even waive his NMC to let Ottawa protect Methot, that completely screwed them over and I'd imagine that management wasn't too impressed with that.

Shaw needs to worry about scoring goals, not getting beat up all the time will really help with the concussions... Believe me.

He's an ideal 3rd line centre and the upside too, is I think, if Bergevin is smart, he can sign him long term for a low cap hit.. and be very serviceable for little money, in a crucial role for awhile.

But no, he's not a top 6 centre. You can't rely on offense from him, he can do some things with the puck through tenacity, speed and smarts.. but he doesn't have the touch.

What about our perennial 30 goal scorer ... who's actually a pretty good playmaker too. I like the idea of having 3 trigger men out there, but we need to use Weber more as a threat to keep the wingers honest so that they have to ignore one of the wing outlets.
