What about our perennial 30 goal scorer ... who's actually a pretty good playmaker too. I like the idea of having 3 trigger men out there, but we need to use Weber more as a threat to keep the wingers honest so that they have to ignore one of the wing outlets.

I don't think Pacioretty is a good powerplay player. But if you must use him.. then put him in the middle of the box as the shooter there.

I hate when Patches has the puck with time, he doesn't make good decisions.

Game on! Last preseason is treated by most team as their opener. Time to shine boys...or not

Shine on you Crazy Diamond's as Pink Floyd would sing, that's if they are Habs fans, more than likely, great musicians / great hockey team. Habs are playing like it's a playoff game, Wish I was There!!!...:cool::cool: Stopped by Tim Horton's Donuts for coffee before work, imagine my surprise they sell hockey cards, so figuring my odds of getting a Habs card, I bought five packs of three cards each. So I get a Max Pacioretty regular & his Stat Maker Cards, along with Connor McDavid's, Tim Horton Top 100 card (Hoorah, what a defenceman he was.) Jamie Benn, Bo Horvat, and so it goes Patrik Laine, Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns, Tyler Seguin, Evgeni Malkin Stat Maker card, etc., etc. etc.

He's an ideal 3rd line centre and the upside too, is I think, if Bergevin is smart, he can sign him long term for a low cap hit.. and be very serviceable for little money, in a crucial role for awhile.

But no, he's not a top 6 centre. You can't rely on offense from him, he can do some things with the puck through tenacity, speed and smarts.. but he doesn't have the touch.

In an ideal world if the Habs can get a guy like Duchene and push down Danault to the 3rd line than the center core becomes a strong one. The biggest problem I have with the center group is that Plekanec and Danault are essentially 3rd line centers and one of them will be put in a role that is not ideal.

My only problem with Danault is that he just doesn't have the upside to be a top 6 center on a contending team. We see what happened in the playoffs last season, when things tightened up he just didn't have the skill to fight through it. That said hopefully he proves me wrong but ideally he is a 3rd line center.

why limit him in your judgement.... Let it being played on ice. line numbers... who care if the hab win!

Mostly because he doesn't have the best hands around. He can do some pretty nice passes once in a while but most of the time it doesn't connect.

He never really played like this before.

He's been a much different player since coming back from his pre-season injury, like knight and day. He's scored in all 3 games since his return. Its this type of play that helps justify his big contract. We saw flashes of it last season but injuries and indiscipline play ruined that. That said I think Shaw will benefit by playing for Julien, Julien has a tolerance and knows how to handle guys like Shaw who can become undisciplined. Therrien would just yell and bench him.

Mete for me is the most impressive player on the ice for MTL, I was not expecting this at all coming into the camp!!!

Thank you Mr. Timmins!!!!

Btw Streit need to be replace by Schlemko as soon as possible.
Am I the only one who is not impress with Hemsky so far? I would like to see Martinsen with DLR and Byron if it doesn't work for Hemsky.

I think folks for the most part have labeled him a 3rd line center. Maybe he is. I think we will know this season. I expect another 40+ point season while not playing 1st line minutes.

Which is why having him on the PP on the RW half-wall is bad player management.

Patches isn't super creative, he doesn't have a traditional PP one-timer, he isn't a great passer.

Having Galchenyuk cross-box with a deadly one-timer, but also the ability to make a move or make a pass would be better.

The Hunter clan does a great job of preparing young players.

Yet another player that by-passes Lefebvre in order to be an NHL player.

More weight on the development side of the ledger.
