I feel like guys like Drouin, Byron, Armia should not be counted. I mean at one point you must accept that it's part of their nature and it is what it is. It's like buying a 649 ticket and counting that as a loss.

Yeah, but instead of hoping to win millions, you're putting almost 12 mil down the drain!

Yearly!

What a clusterf***

About 66 as a Hab.
Not much left. I predict he'll either retire or end up in Europe a maximum of 2 years after leaving Montreal. Tbh he's an European quality player. I feel like it would be more easy for him to go play in Switzerland. Less pressure. Proper level of play for him to dominate. He'll be a popular player there and will be able to take it easy.

Sometimes you can have good wins or bad losses, or good losses and bad wins.

This was a bad loss. But not an unexpected one. This is how I thought we'd look all season.
Playing against elite speed will make anyone look bad. Other than the first period, the Devils pressured us all over the ice. That pressure caused all those ghastly turnovers, sloppy breakouts, mishandled pucks and poor passes. The Devils didn’t give us a chance to breathe. We couldn’t create the time and space to consistently make those clever offensive plays and the fluidity to maintain good defensive positioning. And our less mobile players looked like they were skating in mud: ineffective offensively and a liability defensively.

Nevertheless, some of our players stood out. I though Slafkovsky played one of his best games. He was fast, controlled and physical and had multiple scoring chances. In a few years this kid is going to be load to play against. It was also one of Anderson’s strongest games. Clearly showing that the only way you beat speed is with more speed.

It was however one of the few times that our young defence was overmatched, and at times, overwhelmed by an opposing team’s forecheck. Also, our defence was beaten wide on multiple occasions only to be saved by Allen’s superior goaltending. But that was one of the fastest, if not the fastest team they have faced. Welcome to the big leagues. They’ll adapt and get better. Also, Matheson, an elite skater, will be back soon and that will be a huge benefit to the backend. Huge.

We lost. And we will lose more than we win against superior teams in the league. Notwithstanding, the team never gave up and displayed at times a high level of skill. The foundation of future success is clear to see. And most importantly, we have a management team that has the insight to understand what this team needs to once again become one of the elite teams in the league.

He's a good 4th line checker. He hasn't had any time to develop chemistry or play very much.
The thing is, that line is not a checking line with Slafkovsky on it... It has no identity.

Evans is not very good at crashing and banging either.

I would rather see Ylonen or RHP on that line with Evans and Slaf.

With the amount of turnovers, half of the Habs should have been wearing NJ jerseys
Those weren’t unforced errors. For the last two periods the Devils were a much quicker and dynamic team. We couldn’t match their speed. They didn’t give us any time to breathe. When that happens, the turnovers happen. And happen a lot.

Some of you guys are exaggerating a lot, the jerseys weren't ugly. I actually want one.
Nope. They were awful. Not in the Barber Shop level but still terrible nonetheless. We shouldn't ever be changing the iconic jersey, we set the standard for the best uniform in the NHL. No need to change it for fads. Just my opinion.

Overall the Devils played a fast game, and they are a good hockey team. These aren't the trap/boring Devils everyone knows about, they are a big, fast, young team. They'll be a very tough team to beat down the road, if they can keep their core together and add a couple of pieces.

And when the number one line isn't scoring, there ain't nobody scoring. The fun part of being a one line team is that when that line can score and do their thing, it's enjoyable and fun to watch. The bad part is that when that line is shut down, nobody else is going to produce.

I question why Slaf is being used on the fourth line so often and not given much ice time. He seems to be one of our better players already, but perhaps Marty is trying to limit his playing time to make sure he stays fresh. Pretty obvious that MSL is not a fan of the Pezz either, who has either been scratched or a non factor for us so far.

Have to tip your hat to Marino on the Devils. He seemed to shutdown the Habs every time the first line tried to get going. He did an excellent job on the Suzuki line.

I thought Anderson played a good game, was skating hard and had some good chances. Would have been nice if got a penalty shot on that breakaway.

I also enjoyed MSL pulling the goalie down by 3, and then calling a time out with a minute and change left. He's trying to teach these young guys, even when the game has been decided. I think that shows how much he cares, and how much focus he has on developing these players.

If they want an alternate jersey they should bring back these imo, nice clean look. That baby blue crap is not it.

Can they go back to the strategy of passing to Cole on the PP for him to shoot? Because since a couple of games he’s always open but he rarely get set up… if he actually can shot more than once every PP surely it will go in.
