And people think we won't draft in the top 5...

There's probably going to be some stiff competition for bottom 5. I'll stick to bottom 10 prediction.

However, a long term injury to suzuki would make me change my opinion.

When you have only played 15 games, it's harder to gauge the schedule difficulty by who is in and who is out because the teams around the league are still a work in progress.

There's a good chunk of teams out there who have a better record than "expected" at this point as most teams are trying to get their machine running. Just one win or one loss can make multiple teams a playoff one or non playoff one at this stage of the season.

True. But the 5 playoff teams they’ve played so far are Toronto, Vegas, NJD, Winnipeg, and Dallas. I’d be surprised if all 5 don’t make the playoffs. We’ll see how they do when they have to face Car, Col, TB, Fla, NYR, Bos, etc.

Looking at the Habs schedule to start the season I still think it was relatively easy.

While I'd consider most of those teams on your list as playoff teams, I also believe a few of them are playing above their head right now, so you can also argue that they caught them at a bad time.

As the season moves on, the schedule will inherently get harder. Not only as the cream starts to rise to the top, but also as the youth goes through the trials and tribulations of an 82 game grind.

Suzuki is a s good as him. He has more points on a team with only one line. Once HuGo adds another top centre and Beck is NHL ready Habs will be in business. And I suspect Suzuki would be more effective in the playoffs than Hughes and Hischier.
With all due respect, it's homerism to say Suzuki is as good as Hughes. Suzuki and Hischier are closer.

The young d-core definitely looked raw tonight.

I think the next 4 games against Buffalo (nov 22nd), Colombus (nov 17th and 23rd) and Philadelphia (nov 19th) will be very telling. That's 4 games we 100% have to win. If we can't land at least 6 points in those 4 games i'd say it doesn't look good for the rest of the season.

good reminder that there remains work to be done.

no shame in losing against a hard-working, well-coached team
Lindy Ruff is a good experienced coach. Feels like he does'nt get the credit he deserve having had to coach terrible Sabres for years. He outcoached Marty and the gang tonight.

This is a game showing system vs tactics and with good execution the proper system wins most of the time. I can't believe the Pens let go of Marino though...

Meh game, started wonky and he who figure what game to play takes it. The old fox got his team straightened and it was no look back.

Should've slept, but eh, the Devils were nice to look at, at least.

We'll see when Suzuki has a stronger team around him. I see Hughes and Hischier as players who would have a tough time in the playoffs. Just my opinion but lets see what happens when they make the playoffs. Suzuki has already been effective in the playoffs.

We’re going to be in such a better position going into next summer.
And the team will attract top FA talent now with the kids blooming. Wanna win a cup in the next 5-6 years, sign with us!

Feels a whole lot more interesting than, oh, we're meddling around 8th with castoffs and fringe players and hopefully we'll pick nice kids along the way that *may* help us win. Erh, thanks but no thanks!

We have the kids, they're good, they need some help and a solid bottom 6 squad. The rebuild ain't over

The coach, GM and everybody else were fired for a reason a year ago.

The reason for the giveaways and turnovers is we have a bad team. Pretty simple. Rebuild is far from over.
No, really, we need a hockeygenius to show us the way:

You mean like that year where we missed the playoffs with 96 and everyone were like it sucks we missed with 96 points bla bla bla and i was like do you guys even realise that we had like 5 guys in the middle of their 20ies having unsustainable career year and they will likely not repeat. I remember this season so clearly everything Domi was touching was turning into gold he was so lucky that year and the goalies were so weak against him.

If the Habs draft any one those 4, I'll legit eat a sock a la @Stive Morgan
Carlsson is pretty good. Nobody talk about him but he's legit.

Regular like clockwork

I did say a few months age that we'd get at least 100 man games lost to injury right off the bat by counting Price and Drouin.
I feel like guys like Drouin, Byron, Armia should not be counted. I mean at one point you must accept that it's part of their nature and it is what it is. It's like buying a 649 ticket and counting that as a loss.
