Its amazing how its mainly the youngsters and Monahan being the main players who show.

Gonna be many bumps along the road in terms of development but you see some of the potential payout.

Harris has surprised me after a somewhat disappointing camp. He has been unspectacularly solid
The big question is who sits if the defense is ever healthy. I think they send Xhekaj down personally and run

Matheson, Edmunson, Guhle, Harris, wideman and savard

Not to rain on the parade but Slaf was bad even if he had a few good looks. He is far too weak. He gets knocked off the puck easier than Vicky Mete.

Xhekaj for sure gets demoted to Laval. He should be in Laval now playing more important minutes and working on his positioning.

Long season, it’s still tiddlywinks hockey till early Dec, then intensity starts ramping up, wear & tear and injuries start kicking in…

It is very early and we have had a chance to see what building blocks we have.
Dach, Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Harris, Xhekaj are exciting pieces but the one player that is emerging in a big way is Kaiden Guhle, I am blown away with how good he already is. WOW
I need to Kovasevic to this list along with Barron

In camp they tried him on the right, it showed because he's effective by using sound positioning and it's hard to get situated as well on your off-side.

At this point yeah, Arber is probably the one going down. Then again, Matheson won't be back for quite a while.

He is likely the easiest to send down

Will also depend on if Kovacevik cant maintain his level of play

I just dont see Eddy being healthy sadly

Harris is a silent force with very good contain, very few mistakes and good skating too. Not Ghule level but his timing is excellent. He'll be a solid top 4 in a contender team at maturity.

Harris is solid. Much like Guhle at Junior, you already saw Harris playing a pro game when he was in the NCAA.

I also want to give Kovacevic his due. He's also been quietly effective. Using his reach and big frame well to kill plays.

We got a stud in Guhle I don't remember seeing a young D that good since Markov in Montreal. Harris is a young Adam Fox too.... Can we also thanks Timmins for drafting both Caufield and Guhle back a back ?

Liked Drouin , Monahan , Guhle , Harris , Gally worked his ass off too tonight

Man I dunno, if money was interested in staying I’d look at moving dvorak for whatever and running Suzuki, dach, monahan and Evan’s
If they get an offer they can’t refuse, that could really help the team for the next 15 years. No idea how long Monaghan will last. You trade while his value is high, like they should have done with Gallagher before his last contract.

Kovacevic has definitely earned a spot. Good pker. I'd take that over Wideman on PP.

Matheson - Edmundson
Guhle - Savard
Harris - Kovacevic
Wideman

And, yeah Xhekaj to Laval. Numbers game only, but he's also not quite as developed as Guhle/Harris are.

You wonder with Xhekaj so close though if Edmundson gets put on the trade table at TD. Lots & lots of teams would love to have him if he's healthy.

It’s too early to jump to conclusions. The league will adjust to Guhle, how will Guhle then readjust and continue growing? He’s got all the tools, but it’s simply too early to tell.

Patience…
Maybe so, but Guhle has done nothing but impress again some of the top offensive player in the league while having David freaking Savard as his D partner. Patience is right but the eye test don't lie. I'm not saying he'll be a perennial Norris contender, but if he's not the Habs #1 d within the next few year, he's definitely going to be on the top pairing.

Now let me bask in my optimism hehe

Thank you for posting, I was waiting for your feedback - I vehemently disagree.

I counted 7-times when he stripped the puck in the Pit zone off a board / puck battle but just missed getting off a pass to a teammate.

Like I posted earlier today, Slaf’s issue is he needs fine tuning on NHL time & space execution. He’s a split second too late making decisions, he could’ve scored but couldn’t coral the puck from in between the goalies legs - split second late in read & react

He’s always been used to owning the puck, but that’s not how it’s done in the NHL even for the McDavids of the world
