Chiarot has been awesome in the playoffs for us and teams love this type of player. Habs will retain 50% too making him very attractive. The defense market is pricey right now.
this is correct . with more than a half season gone by the deadline and 50 per cent retention chariot will be an attractive commodity. most contending teams will be at or near the cap so there will be a buyers market for chariot

I'd be interested in Toffoli, but idk how it would work capwise and assetwise. We are going to have to trade Nylander or Marner in the offseason, having Toffoli at 4.25 as a replacement would be decent.

We'd have to include 2 of Holl, Ritchie or Engvall to come close to affording it.

Or trade one in season. Make a splash, wake up the team. Not saying one of Nylander or Marner to the Habs, but that would open up room for Toffoli to the Leafs.

Anderson seemed like a weird player to want to protect if you are having a fire sale.
If you are blowing the team up it’s going to be a few years before you are good again.

His production is extremely streaky but given his play style you could get a good return for him.

i;d keep him because
1 He's still farely young
2 signed long term on an ok contract
3. be a big brother to the kids
4. Could be the next captain
5. True power forward which is something we havent had in decades

The VGK get Price, and the Habs get Lehner, plus the rights to Eichel if he is not able to make a full recovery. But -- and this is a deal-breaking "but" -- the Habs have to play at least 10 regular-season games with Caufield dressed up like an Oompah Loompah.

It's kinda funny looking back on those Dvorak trade threads right now. Some doozies in there. I don't see Dvorak on that list of untouchables.
Yup I got a temp ban for calling out the BS in those threads. Guess I wasn't far off

Dubas won't pull the trigger on anything like that, he wants one more try with this core. When he said "we can, we will" it seems like hes been determined to prove himself right.

I want Josh Anderson back on the Jackets.

With that contract though I don't know if I'd send assets for him.

You want to trade away from our weakest position (LW) to add to one of our deepest?
Petry is a good player and would absolutely improve our defence but at what cost. Engval becomes our second best LW after that trade.
Also we would only have 11 forwards after that trade with no cap space to call up another one.

He usually does. I can't ever think of a time that he hasn't made a trade here and there to shake things up.

Who do you think they'll trade and who's on their radar?

no chance Petry is traded within the division with the years he has remaining

Hopefully, either Lehkonen or Armia for Dylan Strome.
Also, try and sign Sami Vatanen if his European contract has an out-clause, and waive any of Savard, Wideman, Niku, or Kulak. Defense is simply the worst in the last decade or so.

He's a role player. Put him in a position to succeed and he'll look fine. Montreal needed him to fill Danault's shoes. Savard had to fill Weber's. It wasn't a recipe for success.
I don't understand what u mean.

Dvorak is horrible and just about as useless as a player can be. We played him in a bunch of different lines. Hes useless and has no determination to play. Hes also a big reason why our PK sucks.

As for a position to succeed? We played him on the second line with good offensive linemates in Drouin and Anderson. He barely had any points and although that line was prob our best it certainly was not due to his play. Drouin was by far the best habs player in the first few games

I can't think of too many trades 2-3 months into the season to shake things up

He usually adds bargain bin pieces like Scandella, then flips them (hence the nickname). Then he makes big moves in the offseason.

I will take “Shit that idiots say when they don’t have a leg to stand on” for $1000 Alex

I’m not sure I understand your point? The guy thinks Scandella is better than Chiarot. I can disagree with him but it’s his opinion.

Chiarot for a late first or second plus a prospect
Kulak for a 4th
Wideman for a 7th if anyone takes it
Paquette and Perreault for any asset

It won't be much. Something funky will happen in the offseason though. MB will see Chiarot getting traded as leaving a hole on the left side and will start swinging to fill it. He'll sign a Zadorov or a Ristolainen when the fans want him to get us Klingberg or Lindholm.
