Anderson seemed like a weird player to want to protect if you are having a fire sale.
If you are blowing the team up it’s going to be a few years before you are good again.

His production is extremely streaky but given his play style you could get a good return for him.

The UFAs worth anything will be traded near or at the deadline, and that's all that will happen. The older guys on multi-year deals aren't going far. Rebuilding is a year after year, slow, methodical process with the cap. You have to cycle through your bad deals, and old guys.

You want to trade away from our weakest position (LW) to add to one of our deepest?
Petry is a good player and would absolutely improve our defence but at what cost. Engval becomes our second best LW after that trade.
Also we would only have 11 forwards after that trade with no cap space to call up another one.

Sorry but who would pay a 2nd for Joel Armia who is owed 11.6 M$ for the next 3 years (3.87 average) and a 3.4 AAV??? He had 14 pts in 41 games last season, 1 pt in 13 games this season. He is a cap dump like Paul Byron has been

Same thing for Savard, given his recent decline, no one should want to give up that kind of pick

Wideman, lol, is not worth a 3rd in any way shape or form. It was already good to get a 6th for him a few years ago.

Chariot is UFA... not sure what any team would be ready to give up, depends on the market but this seems more realistic. Toffoli and Petry as well

I'd be interested in Toffoli, but idk how it would work capwise and assetwise. We are going to have to trade Nylander or Marner in the offseason, having Toffoli at 4.25 as a replacement would be decent and

We'd have to include 2 of Holl, Ritchie or Engvall to come close to affording it thats why it probably wouldn't work.
