If a new school coach like MSL has not worked, I say bring in a meat and potato coach to coach the team. Hartley would be fine. There are things guys have learned with trials by errors for decades of coaching that new coaches like Marty don't know when the goings gets tough.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking...? MIchael Therrien 3.0?

No offense but reading this post made me think of, remember that time posters tried to tell the board that Hab fans can withstand a rebuild. Boy were they wrong.
No offense taken. If there was a light at the end of the tunnel, I would be more understanding. Right now though, the only non NHLers I'm high on are Roy, Hutson and Mailloux.

None of our current players can be classified as elite let alone generational. Hopefully one of, or both Hutson and Caufield can prove me wrong one day. The way things look though, it just doesn't seem to be enough.

Down 4-0 early, battled back, we're tough to play against. Tampa is playing some great hockey. I'm more curious how we measure up against middle of the pack teams right now.

Matheson was completely lost most of the night.... that's not good
He keeps attempting plays that require more strength, stability or range than he actually posseses and sometimes it works due to his speed and agility but most of the time he just loses the puck or his man or falls down. He's overplayed which doesn't help either but he needs to play smarter/safer.

I paid pretty close attention to Slaf during this game and you could see glimpses of his skillset but his compete level is quite abysmal out there right now. He needs to start moving his feet and to stop gliding around doing f all. Plus for a guy his size he plays a very soft game and shies away from far too many potential board battles, which he should excel at due to his size.

It really is gonna be a very long process with A LOT of much needed patience with this player yet and for the Habs sake they really do need him to eventually get there because they really need this guy to pan out for them big time. Hopefully he can get there.
I don't think it's as much floating as it is him reading/anticipating plays and ensuring he's in position. If you notice, he actually seems to be in the right places in good time. It's a timing thing. And because he's so big and has a big stride, it's easy to think he's floating. At least that's how it appears to me.

As far as the physical side goes, it's not really his game. I do like that he's starting to stake ground in front of the net. Was a fraction away from scoring that way with a really nice display of hands and poise. And that quick stick to break-up that sure breakaway saucer pass to Kucherov was beautiful. I agree, patience. Baby steps. I truly believe he's well on his way to find his way. Once he is fully adjusted timing-wise, look out. He plays an anticipation game.

After the Ducharme lousy season that had in fired. And the last two seasons where there was an "undertanding" that we were in fact tanking, you don't think it's more than enough? Personally I was ready for a soft tanking this year still but with at least a showing of improvement. I think next year will be the time to at least take a bigger step forward.

There is an extra season in your math here, the last two season include Duchump lousy season, this is the season that got everyone fired and triggered the rebuild. If Hughes hiring mark the beginning of the rebuild, then we have been committed to a rebuild for 1 year 9 months and 21 days.

Dach, another top line talent, Roy, etc is enough. You don't need to have a Toronto offence. Vegas has like 2 PPG players and the conn symthe winner that can't regularly crack 65 pts.
I
Most of these guys won’t even be with the team in a few years. Ghuele, CC, Caufield, Slaf, Barron, Dach (when he’s in the lineup) those are the guys that matter,

Hutson, Beck, Roy, RB etc… they’re not even with the team yet.
i don’t count dach at all now. Hel be a bonus if he plays. Habs need to plan assuming he will not be there.

Dead horses be damned, Anderson needs to sit. 29 years old and 500+ reg/playoff games under his belt, the guy isn’t making the simplest plays on any part of the ice. His lack of output this season goes so far beyond the old “wish we could get just a little bit more out of him!” we knew we were getting when he signed. Give Newhook a shot somewhere else

I've always said that Ginette was a better singer than Céline.

Ginette pats a player on the elbow: he scores in the next period. Céline meets the whole team at a time things are going well: all the players lose respect in the coach and they suck forever after that.

c'mon now, there's talent in the pipeline, it's just not there yet.

no guarantees they'll all hit but :dunno: there's something
Well sure : the AHL team is getting destroyedin spite of being full of those hypothetical talents. No player in the juniors is really posting exciting stats (except Hutson but we all now his potential issues won t be with scoring at the NHL level). I like Reinbacher but there is no way to know for sure what he ll become.

The core young guys in MTL are good but nothing more right now. Caufield Suzuki Dach Newhook Guhle Barron are all in their D+4 at least so it is not as if this team had a 18 year old core.

Turned it off after the 4th goal, because I knew Tampa was there to win. Leafs sent us a pissed off opponent. Playing Detroit next will be another tough one, but I don't have the same sense of doom like when I saw the Lightning on the schedule.

When HuGo came in after firing Ducharme, they essentialy started the fire sale so we could tank and get the best pick. And then last year was the other tank. I guess this year should be the balancing act like we don't necesseraly compete for honors but we improve. I guess next year should be the turning point to see where this is going.

Well if slaf makes it on the top line (I know a big if) and the vet line stays together, I see 4 possible solutions for the 3rd line:
1. RHP - Newhook - Anderson
2. RHP - Dvo - Anderson
3. RHP - Dvo - Newhook
4. Ylonen - Newhook - Anderson
5. Dvo - Newhook - Anderson
