It is pathetic. I've pointed out that if Habs had a league average PP year round, they'd probably be in or close to a wildcard spot. Fortunately this year is another wash so the PP sucking is kind of advantageous. And maybe the PP is lacking cause the talent level on it isn't as good as other teams. That's probably the beste explanation
We’re 18th in PP percentage this year. Not spectacular but pretty average.

To be honest context matters. The PP2 got a lot of those goals and even if they're 18th, the PP either scores or it's a complete momentum killer because of how inept it is. The middle ground pretty much isn't there. I would rather have a slightly worse PP that actually looks dangerous most of the time.

I’d never say it’s a great PP but… I also never expected it to be. We don’t really have the horses.

Were you expecting better?

Maybe, just maybe, they were forced to have the current vets. Armia, Dvorak, Gallagher, Evans, Savard, Anderson, etc. All MB players that the current management hasn't either moved yet/ haven't been able to move yet. The only vets with their signature on it are Monahan and Pearson. Matheson too but that was a one for one trade essentially and I don't think anyone here would rather Petry right now

That's pretty much half your team. And the team is so disjointed that some players can't really thrive under these conditions. Young defencemen take a while before they're good defensively. Who knew. Hughes and Gorton have been in Montreal for less than 2 years, taking over the worst team in hockey. What are you expecting? Yes, they need to get better but don't pretend like every game has been them not putting in any effort. They're obviously outmatched and it shows.
We are not talking about being good defensively or offensively. We are talking about ability to execute the most basic hockey plays. Tape to tape pass. I swear pretty much every single time Habs gain possession of the puck in their own zone, they immediately lose. They barely every can get the puck out of their zone without some kind of an adventure. These guys are NHLers. Not good ones, but NHL'ers nonetheless. The basis to pass, skate and clear should be there. It's all coaching and lack of any kind of system or strategy around the game. It's likely not drilling any plays at practice and rather preaching some conceptual BS that never translates to anything tangible on the ice. Team needs to go back to whatever they team at bantom hockey.

While the coaches likely making the players feel better about their shitty play, they are not helping them because they are not preparing them and gradually improving them.

Anderson needs to go. I’m sorry but a physical and in-your-face game like that and the best he can do is chirp Eyssimot (who is a foot shorter) when the refs are there? f*** off you fake tough guy.

Screw you Habs! You made me agree with Normand Flynn regarding how lost they look defensively. And now I have to go take a shower. :shakehead

I still think it's a lack of talent and over thinking. The plays you're talking about are easily executed but instead of sump outs, a lot of the time they hesitate and scramble on the boards. The Habs need an offensive tactician cause the systems need help, I completely agree. Forward placement on breakouts is terrible. Most of the time, even when they accept a pass, they aren't in a good position to do anything but dump it further down the ice. The coaches should be held to account but I think it's mostly a player problem

Tonight was the first time I noticed him in a positive way. Felt he was actually good tonight. Should’ve had a goal but he’s got absolutely no confidence right now.

Most of these guys won’t even be with the team in a few years. Ghuele, CC, Caufield, Slaf, Barron, Dach (when he’s in the lineup) those are the guys that matter,

Hutson, Beck, Roy, RB etc… they’re not even with the team yet.

Since Habs clearly are going nowhere, I think another complete clean house is in order. Everyone. Coaches. Mngt. It isn't going in the right direction. These coaches are NOT teaching these kids anything. They are NOT able to get vets to put any kind of effort. They are not setting any good examples and instilling hard work habits.

Management is just continuing what previous managaement did - passing on any kind of talent that comes along.

There will be zero negative impact if Habs completely clean house now. It is beyond frustrating to watch whatever that team is.

If a new school coach like MSL has not worked, I say bring in a meat and potato coach to coach the team. Hartley would be fine. There are things guys have learned with trials by errors for decades of coaching that new coaches like Marty don't know when the goings gets tough.

Glad MSL found a scapegoat

On n’aime pas ton coaching Marty.

I think team needs that to a certain degree. MSL can assist and be the good cop.
