So far I have seen someone say Ryan Murray is a 3rd pair D and another say McCarron+... do people not watch hockey or just assume that the CBJ are run by the NHL 17 trade simulator and you can put force trades on so you can trade anything you want.

Ryan Murray is a 2D that is playing 3D now only because Jones-Werenski are playing amazingly together. He was just on team NA and played IMO the best out of all the guys there including better then Jones. The jackets have no reason to and will not trade him unless we get a young 1C back. We gave up RyJo for Jones so it shows we value our D high because we were willing to give up our young 1C to shore that up. Werenski doesn't make Murray a throw in now just because why not. We have a great future with our 3 D and the only reason to change that is if we feel our D is strong enough this year and trading him for a proven young 1C will help us reach the playoffs. So if you want him Gally is the minimum to start. Not 1 other player on your team has any value to us at all. We are stacked at W at D and Bob has been fantastic this year and we have 2 could be stud goalie prospects. That leaves the C position in which you have 1 of note.

Get ready to make that + bigger than the name before it to ward off Blues fans.

Edler seems like a good fit for Montreal and the price probably is around what you're tossing around for Parayko.

No it's not. Beaulieu is looking to be nothing more than a #5 d-man right now (with maybe the potential to be a decent #4, but he's turning 24 soon), and top pairing d-men on good contracts don't come cheap.

Goligoski from Phoenix with the way Chychrun's been playing. Beaulieu+

Can't think of a single other Weber compliment available that the habs could pay for.

he's not and hasn't proven yet he can be a #4. Here's the order of TOI this year,

Weber 25:59
Petry 21:54
Markov 21:15
Emelin 20:26
Beaulieu 17:46
Pateryn 15:07

Agree. Beaulieu is overrated by some Habs fans and he doesn't have much value.

If the Canadiens want a top 4, they need to trade young prospects (Scherbak, Juulsen) and high picks or wait until trade deadline and take a UFA for draft pick (Oduya for example).

Trade for Oduya at the deadline

The Habs will pick up another D way before the deadline....
They want to take some load off Markov and Weber....
Picking up a D at the deadline doesn't accomplish that soon enough ...

Ah, I remember when a Habs fan tried to argue that their top-4 was top-10 in all of hockey. Those were good times.

Is that really such a stretch? Are there 10 teams with a clearly better top-4 group than Weber, Markov, Petry, Emelin?

Tsn says Habs want a #4d ?? This is as bad as the Comey thing.
invent something and dont give any information. Habs need a 4th d ok habs want to pay NOTHING, how many click would you get if you told the WHOLE truth. That's stupid. the next stupid thing is all the posters that offer a 4th for 10 times the value because of course the habs are a stupid team and they are the asking team so they will accept a blood bath of a trade.

Why on HF boards, people respond to stupid comments with even more stupid ones.

To point out the stupidity of the original comment. It's called satire. The overating by Habs fans of their players is absurd. The only guy deserving of the praise heaped on him is Price.

How about Marco Scandella ? What are the Wild needs ?

As they say on legal dramas- asked and answered.

Top 6 forward with no age, contract, or injury issues, or a prospect with top line potential. The only prospect of interest on the Habs is Sergachev, and the Wild are awash in Dmen.

No deal to be made, especially as MTL's new found competence( spelled Price) has made their 1st pick less valuable, as it's likely to be up in the 20's somewhere.

Humm humm.

And you say we overvalue our own players.

Noah Juulsen (local BC player) & Mike McCarron (partly makes up for loss of Edler's physical play in tuff Pacific Division)

I would do this. With Markov's contract up this year, adding Edler this season would be a great move. Would Edler agree to a trade though?
