If I were a Vancouver fan I wouldn't want them trading anyone until a new GM was brought in. The thought of Benning continuing to make moves would make me cringe.
Sorry I'm a Benning supporter, not a hater.

I think the issue is Therrien is overplaying Markov and there is a fear the latter might have nothing left in the tank by season's end as was the case last year. Bergevin basically needs someone to eat up more minutes on the left side. Emelin is having a good year so far but he has considerable difficulty with skilled fast moving forwards. Beaulieu is still learning and still makes a lot of mental mistakes.
I don't think the team is looking for an elite defender or an offensive defenseman. They have a potential one in Sergachev. Rather, I suspect they would prefer a workhorse that's not flashy but can play 20 minutes a game. Another Petry in other words but one that can play the left side. They don't grow on trees so it's a matter of wait and see especially this early in the season. Furthermore, Markov right now is playing big minutes so there is no rush.
My two cents
Columbus fans
How about something centered on R . Murray for Mike McCaron
Nope, Murray never has shown that he'll be anything beyond a third pairing D so far, people have started accepting that reality.
I think Elder would be a good addition...not sure if he'd fit with Weber, but he would be good for Montreal. His price is high so I'd think mayba Scherback and 1st might do it
He makes 5M a season. How do you expect them to fit that under the cap without sending money back? Plus, Scherbak is a nothing prospect right now.
After interacting with some Habs fans in other threads, I firmly believe the going offer is:
Scraps for legit top 4 D.
Montreal cant offer much off the current roster without creating another big hole .. to solve another one. All they have left is picks and prospects, neither of which will be stellar. Their 1st will likely be fairly late in the 1st round, probably around 20th+. Their prospect pool is fine but other than Sergachev, there arent any blue chippers. Unless the offer is their 1st + Sergachev, I dont see a top 4 in the cards.
Yeah, you're probably right. He would be the perfect fit for Montreal though on that top pairing. Thought maybe Chicago could be enticed with a 1st (draft is in Chicago) and a couple young pieces.
Doubtful though, he's definitely a core piece.
Yeah, Stoner and Després are great LHD'S you're right smh
Would Nik Hjarmarlsson be available?
Not in a million years, No way is Stan Bowman trading Hjarmarlsson with that sweetheart of a cap hit not happening.
What if Marc asked nicely?
Nope not even if he got down on both hand and knees and pleaded.
I am not saying one on one but Mccaron plus something from Montreal would make it.
Columbus have Jones and werenski on D who are more sure bets than Murray so far. He is good but he has been injured a few times which raises some questions.
When a team is in win now mode it doesnt make sense to trade there best players for a top 4 D- man lol, a 1st pick and sergachev for a top for D-man? that better be a small add for a top 2 d man.
not really sure who youve been talking too but at the end of the day they arent the gm
Trade for Oduya at the deadline
Only if the "plus something" that gets added is the actual centerpiece of the trade - say, Galchenyuk.
Sure, Werenski-Jones has been awesome. But we still have a second pairing to think about. We have no reason to move him unless you're giving us an upgrade at C - and we have no interest in Plekanec.
I could have elaborated and said that one didn't even need to include McCarron, if that really bothers you that much. The fact of the matter is that, whatever he may be to Montreal or other teams, McCarron is utterly valueless to Columbus - we have tons of high quality wing prospects and tons of scorers with size at all levels; he wouldn't have anywhere to play. Trying to suggest that he could be the centerpiece of a trade for virtually anyone on the Blue Jackets roster, let alone one of our better defensemen that we MIGHT only move ONLY for a C upgrade, is lunacy.Lol. If the habs offered Galchenyuk for Murray, Jarmo would take it and run. Galchenyuk+McCarron for Murray? Gimme a break man. That's terrible.
Ya gotta give to get. Which was sort of my point. Montreal has nothing to offer a team to be able to bring back a top 4 dman. Maybe at the deadline but I doubt even then.
Also .. when did it become a top 2 dman?
Your last comment isnt worth commenting on
According to Kypreos, the Habs are in the market for a top 4 D.
What's available and at what cost?
My personal preference is Cam Fowler, who I think would be a perfect partner for Weber, but no idea if Habs have what it would cost or would be willing to part with it if they do.
I think they are mainly looking for a #2 guy to pair with Weber on the top pair but they are calling it top 4, I think mainly because there is no guarantee Therrien will play the person in the top pairing.
Other options?
Weber is the #2.
done. he's good for the incompetankwe'll give you a 2116 1st to keep him
