You'd have better luck getting Scandella than Brodin.

Yeah...

I think at this point even trying to get Scandella isnt likely like you said you don't really need D-men/D prospects in return you would need a decent foward coming back and then some? habs cant make that work. was just throwing out ideas before just seeing what the cost would be for Scandella and clearly there is no deal to be made.

Brodin would have no future with montreal anyways and is not a
top pairing Dman nor an upgrade over Emelin/Markov/Beaulieu for this season. Plus, he doesnt have the offensive skills to complement Weber.
Lol. And no guys beaulieu+ random forward prospect doesn't do it. Think really hard on why you would like that deal. It's exactly why we don't.
What about a 1st and McCarron for Scandella? I'm thinking the Habs are at that point where they'll be ready to sacrifice a bit of their future to patch their remaining holes.
Really fair offer. It depends a lot on how things shake out during the year. Like if two forwards break out we'll have to leave 3dmen exposed to cover the forwards so wouldn't do this. But assuming no major changes I'd do this one

No team has six solid Dmen, so no team would be willing to trade one of its best unless there are irreconcilable differences as a deadline approaches. The Weber-Subban trade came as a shock. Two players who have been mentioned for months are Trouba and Shattenkirk, but both are still with their teams.

I think the issue is Therrien is overplaying Markov and there is a fear the latter might have nothing left in the tank by season's end as was the case last year. Bergevin basically needs someone to eat up more minutes on the left side. Emelin is having a good year so far but he has considerable difficulty with skilled fast moving forwards. Beaulieu is still learning and still makes a lot of mental mistakes.

I don't think the team is looking for an elite defender or an offensive defenseman. They have a potential one in Sergachev. Rather, I suspect they would prefer a workhorse that's not flashy but can play 20 minutes a game. Another Petry in other words but one that can play the left side. They don't grow on trees so it's a matter of wait and see especially this early in the season. Furthermore, Markov right now is playing big minutes so there is no rush.

My two cents

Yeah agree with you but not just Markov being overplayed Webber is also. Markov and Webber need to both play less minutes. This is what Nick Kypreos said.

If, for any stupid reason, Murray was to be disponible, i would suggest a deal for McCarron et Juulsen.

Fowler + Stoner + 2nd
For
Beaulieu + DD + 1st

Anaheim adds some much needed cap space and gets a decent replacement for Fowler, swaps a bottom pairing D for an offensive bottom 6 forward, plus adds a high draft pick. Montreal gets an ideal player to compliment Weber on the first pairing and gives them some serious depth on the back end

We dont need Fowler, we need a defensive dman that we can comfortably give 70-80% d-zone starts.

That's an easy pass for the Ducks. Remember, Anaheim needed cap space primarily to sign Hampus Lindholm, which it turns out they did. Beaulieu doesn't do a thing for Anaheim.

Fowler isn't available right now, Murray pretty much said that he plans on going with the status quo. Beaulieu isn't a need in Anaheim as Anaheim already has an over abundance of D hence why Murray could move Fowler in the first place. And DD really why would Anaheim want a smallish 5'7 Centerman especially with the style they play he would get eaten alive there. Montreal doesn't have much cap space and Beaulieu and DD really don't make as much as Fowler and adding Stoner to can't see MB doing it.

I've watched every Habs game this year and was very impressed with Beaulieu playing with Weber. He wasn't perfect, but I only saw one glaring, bad error while playing with him. But it seems Therrien has given up on him already and I don't understand it.
Well, actually, I do. It's Therrien. No room for excellent skating and signs of offensive flair from your young players.

That's not a realistic target number. The highest in the NHL the last few years has been in the low 40's.

Weber gets 65-70% d-zone starts atm, whoever plays with him has to play heavy minutes (that's why i'd like someone like Brodin, he's used to playing tough minutes).

Larsson/Greene got 30% o-zone starts last season, Brodin was at 38%.
