Every team, every year seems to be looking for a top 4 Dman so Habs fans better be willing to cough up a premium asset if they want a young one on a cost controlled contract.

Much more likely they bring in a pending UFA like Del Zotto, Streit, Kulikov, Oduya, Hainsey who will all still cost a fair bit to acquire.

Montreal does not need to go crazy and pay a premium for another d-man. Emelin is doing fine with Weber, and Beaulieu is also getting better with Weber. Also, if we really need another young PMD, Barberio did well for us last year and is doing really well in the minors. I would rather bring him up and let him partner with Weber. Sergachev should go down for another year to learn, develop, and dominate.

Fowler is NOT worth either Pacioretty or Galchenyuk. The Habs are not the Oilers, we do not need to trade one of our best goal scoring forwards to get a solid #2 defence man.

Habs don't have much to give up unless they are willing to trade prospects or top picks.

That's the problem. Montreal can't give any of the current top 6 or top 4 (exept Emelin). So they can't fetch a great reward. Prospects and picks, that's it. Maybe at the deadline.

No. We do not need to mortgage more of our future. Weber was able to help other defensemen look much better when in Nashville. He helped them develop. He can do the same here. Emelin is not a long term top 2 option, agreed, but Beaulieu and Barberio can both be trained to do the job if Therrien could simply accept that young players need to make some mistakes to get better.

i mean beaulieu is on the third pairing still and i dont think hes gonna be back near the top pairing for some time,barberio may be able to get the job done but id feel alot more secure with a proven defender espeically with patches and price needing new contracts in the near future.Its ithier get a proven d-Man or take a chance that one of the young guys can handle the pressure.

At the end of the day its been reported berg is in the market for a top 4-Dman because he knows after what happened last year its do or die for him.

Montreal doesn't have the available pieces to "get Brodin."

Scandella has not been good to start the year in Minnesota,but the Wild have to trade somebody on defense or they will lose someone for free to Las Vegas in the expansion draft on June 21st.

Brodin would have no future with montreal anyways and is not a
top pairing Dman nor an upgrade over Emelin/Markov/Beaulieu for this season. Plus, he doesnt have the offensive skills to complement Weber.
