No one is reprimanding them, but there is a difference between projecting a certain spot where Hutson should fall and then picking the likes of Mesar ahead of him.Except we have video evidence that they projected he would be there, and he was, and they took him.
Tampa took Koekkoek over Vasy. They took Namestnikov over Kucherov.
I guess anything is technically luck whenever someone is picked at any spot other than 1OA. So we could just say every pick ever made outside of 1OA that worked out is luck.
In this particular instance. They made a projection and were right and were able to grab Mesar and Beck as well while still getting Hutson. They should be applauded not reprimanded.
Their internal rankings were flawed assuming Hutson’s performance holds up for the long term. Beck should not have been ranked ahead of Hutson either. So yes, they were lucky. And sometimes, better to be lucky than good.
Anyhow, they’re winning, why not enjoy that.
