Dont need to look at the atlantic division.

In no particular order
Definitely better then - Blackhawks, Ducks, Sharks, Flyers, Yotes, Blues,
In the same tier as - Nucks, flames, Preds, Jackets, Caps, Wings

That puts us in the 7-13 range which is what Im expecting this year
Same tier as Flames ? sure they underperformed last season but they are a better team then us

Habs should finish bottom 10 again

Any word on Carey Price at all today?

Was he at the tournament? Did anyone in management address his status in anyway?

Flames have lost Toffoli, are going to lose Hanifin at some point, Huberdeau hasn't been great and is on the wrong side of 30 and lindholm is likely to leave. The flames are a bad gust of wind away from being the Habs 21-22

Were you expecting a 19 year old kid to carry this sorry excuse of a team?
I was not expecting the kid in the NHL last year and I don’t think he should be in the NHL this year. So, no you have me wrong.
Thank goodness this new management « gets » kids.
Huh?
Telling him he sucks and needs to earn it in a year where it’s near improbable they make the playoffs sounds like one lame plan.
Can you elaborate. What do you mean by this? Nobody needs to tell him he sucks. He’s a very young prospect coming off from injury.

I’d argue it’s MORE pressure on a young player who is clearly not NHL material right now to insist to keep him in the NHL and suggest he would lose joy and passion if he wasn’t playing in the NHL.
Slafkovsky does not look like a kid you need to push as much as steer. Fans making him carry 25 years of lame hockey on his back when he is 19 is would be weird to me.
He needs to get the requisite ability to play at NHL speeds. It has nil to do with passion. He wasn’t capable of playing in the NHL last season and it showed.

Why because he wants to play here, was on pace for 55+ points last year and skates like Paul Coffey?
Because he can’t defend and plays a position where he’s supposed to defend.
Luckily his boy the gm will let him do Wtv he wants.

Comparing him to Paul Coffey is hilarious.
It’s easy to play lessai faire Defence when you know the team is gonna suck and you can’t and won’t be criticized.

1 more year I guess then he’s gone

Would you prefer Wideman?
No lol. Touché

But we were told that everything was Sutter's fault

MSL says Slaf’s position in the NHL is pretty much guaranteed. He adds that they are cautious and do not want to kill Slafkovsky’s enjoyment of the game.

Great 1OA. Hope he has fun this year and they don’t kill his passion!

It is that balance that is tough to uphold when you have a kid who's clearly not ready to contribute meaningfully in the NHL.

He's learning the pro game while not scoring.

Hopefully he can find more offense this season, it's not good for the morale to only focus on the things you don't do well.

MSL really seems to understand how people work, such a great skill to have as a coach.

Not really. The odds of us getting anything other than the Florida pick in 2025 are very slim, pick 20-23 in 2024 could be better than waiting an extra year for a worse pick
Calgary drafting 20+ this year and then top 10 next year would almost require them to keep Lindholm, Backlund and Kylington for the full year and lose them for nothing. If they are good enough for top 12 this year they'll try to retain their vets. If not they'll trade them and finish lower than that.
