Habs Fans Reactions to Drafting David Reinbacher

Then, I think Hans management already find arguments to justify that Reinbacher will not be there next year, which was also a thrown argument to not draft Michkov

When you combine stupidity with passion this is the result you get. Most of the fans with a brain may be disappointed, however it should be disappointment with the management not the young kid. It is pretty common to have this happen with passionate fan bases it is just unfortunate the amount that was directed at the kid. Once development camp starts I bet the same fans will be praising him as the next Piatrangelo and forget completely how upset they were. I’m rooting heavily for the kid and I hope he has not taken the attacks too personally, it is just stupid people doing stupid things.
 
Such a big deal over a clickbait post by a random social media sports account. He's not receiving "thousands" of hate messages. Thousands of people are upset with the pick and are expressing it on social media. Some people are going too far, like the one person who called him h*tler, which I did see, and got called out by hundreds and ended up deleting the tweet.

What? That was already decided and has nothing to do with this.

Again, just not true, the overwhelming majority of people who are upset are upset and management, and what's with "most" Canadiens fans lol?

I get that it feels good to be the good guy spreading positivity, but this is a nothingburger.

I mean who from the east is a legit cup contender? Boston is done. Tampa been trending down. Maybe Rangers and Hurricanes. The west has at least 4 legit cup contenders

I don't think it had that much to do with it. More like Michkov was promoted in the local media as a potential Bedard that would fall into Montreal's lap. Very little coverage was dedicated to players such as Reinbacher. The media didn't do a very good job with this, imo.

Not the best example, as sports fans in St. Louis have attained notoriety for those types of issues in the past
 
I remember when Gorton and Bobrov passed on Bouchard and Wahlstrom to draft Kravtsov, not even the greasiest NY fan was putting the kid through something like this.
Reinbacher is going to prove a lot of people wrong in the next couple years
 
I mean... Look at all the overly emotional idiots on the Habs board who shat all over the management because they didn't like a hockey decision they made. It's not too surprising that some fans would go beyond the limits and take it out on the player too. There are some insanely unhappy individuals on this planet.

I'm a big Habs fan and I feel deeply saddened that David had to be subjected to such illogical hatred two days after being drafted. Talk about giving a reason to young (and old) players not to come play here. What a f***ing disgrace. These people should be ashamed of themselves. But, to be fair, these 'fans' probably don't give a crap about the team anyway.
 
So, during the 2021 Stanley Cup finals, me and my wife decided to head over to Montreal and catch game 3 at this cool downtown bar, along with all the other fans. My wife was rocking her Carey Price jersey, but unfortunately, the Habs didn't have the best game, and Carey himself had a rough one too.
On our way back to the hotel, we encountered a bunch of people who made some pretty rude and offensive comments about my wife wearing the Carey Price jersey. It ranged from playful banter to downright crazy insults. I gotta admit, I was pretty embarrassed by our own fan base. I mean, come on, after watching Carey literally carry the team to the finals and being the face of the franchise, it was shocking to see my wife being subjected to such insults. This news is not surprising to me at all. What a shame.

Agreed. Right or wrong, Michkov came with considerable hype which likely added to the disappointment and vitriol. The hype around Dubois didn't help things.

A large number of Montreal hockey fans expected a choice of of Michkov, Smith or Leonard. Not many thought of Reinbacher as the sexy pick. At first glance, he's a solid prospect who is close to NHL ready and could turn into a better Kaiden Guhle.

I understood that to mean that certain “high pressure” Canadian markets have a reputation for fans crossing the line when it comes to individual players not living up to expectations
 
They booed Slaf last year as he was walking up to the stage, now this. Disgusting, the kid just got drafted to your team and some people pull this kinda crap. Some of the things that have been allegedly said to him are pretty disgusting, I know a lot of Habs fans aren't happy with the selection but that kinda stuff is never ok.

Most of their fans are pretty cool here on HF, just crappy that a vocal group is going to make the entire fan base look bad.

Yes, and I responded with a recent example to show that this kind of thing isn't isolated to Canadian teams/fanbases.

Reinbacher does not seem like a bad pick at 5. People are dumb for overreacting at this point, or for blaming the kid himself ever. Most knee jerk reaction like this comes from people that haven’t seen him play and could probably use a bath.
 
One would have to had lost all sense of reality to do something of this ilk...or too many kids have too much access to the internet. Sad statement on society either way.
