Given how certain delusional Habs fans reacted to the news of Dubois going to LA, I'm not surprised by this news.
Bonus irony:
I was told Thursday that Pierre-Luc Dubois mentioned this in weighing his decision between following his heart to Montreal or following his head to Los Angeles, and another front office source took that a step further.

“We’re trying to make Montreal a place players want to play,” he said, “and this stuff definitely doesn’t help.”
(from Basu's article on the Reinbacher reaction)

Habs fans are wild. I mean took them a minute to turn on Shane Wright cuz their team passed on him even tho 90 percent of the fanbase wanted him.

To me, overreacting to how or what a sports team does just seems silly. It is something you have absolutely no control over. It’s like overreacting to the weather.

A lot of fans come off (to me anyway) as pathetic people with nothing in their lives hoping that living vacariously through a sports team will fill that hole and somehow make their life meaningful. Nw, I hope I’m wrong about that, but that’s how it seems to me.

The man's going to need roughly four years before he's NHL ready. Two more outside North America, and then two more in the AHL with occasional emergency callups before he's ready for bottom pairing duties, but you can expect him to ride the pine for extended periods when they rush him.
You’re exaggerating, lol.

The kid is already a #1 dman in the swiss league.

If that's your reason, then you shouldn't draft anyone. There were two reasons for Montreal to pass on Michkov, really:

1) Michkov specifically told your GM that he would not come over, and
2) your GM couldn't risk wasting another high pick on a guy who wouldn't contribute for a few years.

Of these, #1 is probably what happened, and I would assume more than one team heard this story. But in Montreal's case, #2 likely was a factor in them deciding to not take Michkov anyway.

Reinbacher is an amazing prospect. Hopefully he gets to an organisation that respects him.

Lmao you think the org dont respect Reinbacher ?

Where did i say that was my reason ? I said one of the reasons, and from the report i saw Michkov didnt say no to Montréal, its is character and blablabla

Your second point... Reinbacher stay in Eureope one more season, then 1 season in the ahl, then mayne nhl will he have an immédiate impact ? Maybe... Mich will arrive in the same time in the nhl and guess who will win the Calder

Hockey is supposed to be a fun thing for fans. I get the passion but at the end of day if it makes you frustrated i don’t really get why people keep watching.

tbh I'm less annoyed at the extreme idiots on social media because, well, I suppose I'm expecting it too much?

But the supposed draft gurus who are floored we drafted him as if he wasn't a really good option at 5 and an obvious fit for the Habs, oh my gooooood

It's kind of weird that one reason seems to be his "ties" (and I quote that because it makes no sense) to Hitler because of where he was born, yet they're upset that the Habs didn't draft Michkov despite his "ties" (again, quoted because he has nothing to do with him) to Putin.

Indeed, just because you don't like who was picked does not give you the right to attack a kid.
It's stuff like this that makes ne understand why we're so despised as a fanbase and why no player wants to come here. Some real monkey brains around.

If Michkov did the slightest thing to upset them, this would have 100% happen.

If my org tanked and then passed up Cooley, Michkov, Leonard, Nemec, Tkachuk and Hughes for Reinbacher, Slaf and Kotkaniemi...I'd be pissed too!

They've been really smart in a lot of ways, but the top picks + the strange moves (Newhook?) set the rebuild back. Imagine if they had Cooley, Michkov and Tkachuk right now?

Being pissed is ok and normal. Sending shit messages to a kid is insanity and disgusting. Nobody here promote this kind of behavior. If so, they can go f*** themselves right into the Sun.

On top of that, I'm gonna guess the same fans didn't mind adding Thomas Vanek at the 2014 deadline, when he was still nearly a PPG winger.

Odd that the Austrian is getting the hate but the red army pants wearing Russian isn't

They don't care at all about that, they are just annoyed he's not the guy everyone said was one of the premier talents in the draft. If the nationalities were reversed they'd use that as ammo for their hate filled temper tantrums.

Well, there are fans on these boards who seem to believe they know it all and that anything different from what they think should be done is flat out wrong. It seems a lot of them do not even consider that they might be wrong

let’s see…I can pay the most in taxes to play somewhere where people go out of there way to send me angry comments on a day I worked for my whole life…

Or I could live a nice life where I can go out to dinner with my family and no one knows who I am.

Yet baseball players love playing in Boston and New York. High tax, high pressure and crazy segments of fans/press.

As for the OP, yeah there is a segment of the fans who are kooks. I’m looking at you Kovalev protesters
