Habs Fans Reactions to Drafting David Reinbacher

I’ve not seen this news on any of the major sport site in Quebec and lord knows they like to dig some dirt if they smell anything odd. Looks to be overblown… Not that it would really surprise me because it seems nowadays you can get death treaths for saying the sky is blue or something.

He’s going to be a good player in this league. Unfortunately like anything there will always be a segment of each teams fan base that are just straight scumbags.
According to Hughes he may be a 2nd pairing guy who doesn't run the PP. LOL.

I dislike how they say Habs fans are doing this. Or fans of any team when this stuff happens. I get that it's not an untrue statement, but it really paints entire fanbases with a broad brush and it's not fair. They shouldn't associate these kinds of dirt bags with Fandom, they should just call them what they are. A bunch of scumbags send death threats and nasty comments.

Starting to Wonder if they did pass on Michkov for reasons like this
If that's your reason, then you shouldn't draft anyone. There were two reasons for Montreal to pass on Michkov, really:

1) Michkov specifically told your GM that he would not come over, and
2) your GM couldn't risk wasting another high pick on a guy who wouldn't contribute for a few years.

Of these, #1 is probably what happened, and I would assume more than one team heard this story. But in Montreal's case, #2 likely was a factor in them deciding to not take Michkov anyway.

Reinbacher is an amazing prospect. Hopefully he gets to an organisation that respects him.

Truly pathetic of sports fans to treat an 18 year old kid like that. Some of these idiots need to be called out and exposed.

Dumb reason to not bring him over.

If his play warrants it, he should be in NA and the haters can go fly a kite.
Him going back to Switzerland would not be because of that. He expressed the want to finish school, keep working and be 100% ready to hit the NHL even before the draft, he also said it in his presser after his selection.

Hopefully it doesn't actually stop him from coming to NA, that would be a joke and MTL fans should be ashamed with how they behaved when the pick was made.

He wants to finish school and has some things to work on to be fully ready. One more year in switzerland doesn’t hurt.

I think he’d do well in the AHL, though.

The habs love and believe in him, they picked him 5th overall.

PR spin on the part of the Canadiens organization, selectively reporting on and signal-amplifying a few bad actors to plaster over all the reams of legitimate and largely calmly expressed dissatisfaction over managerial incompetence.

The man's going to need roughly four years before he's NHL ready. Two more outside North America, and then two more in the AHL with occasional emergency callups before he's ready for bottom pairing duties, but you can expect him to ride the pine for extended periods when they rush him.

Judging by how a lot of hab fans behave on this board, I am not surprised by this at all and I am not even being snarky.

Reading my own board is super depressing and I have rarely felt so embarrassed here. So I'm not surprised that some people will target him directly. Despicable, shameful and truly disgusting. Re-educate yourself.
Indeed, just because you don't like who was picked does not give you the right to attack a kid.

They're re-reporting Arpon Basu of The Athletic. There is substance here.

It's almost certainty another "despicable vocal minority" case, but it is genuinely a thing.
I haven't read the original. Both platforms have a history of re-framing, re-titling, adding, subtracting, for sensationalism.

While certainly passionate & a top NHL market, there is a history of not so good behavior. Obviously its not the majority. But...

Booing players because they didn't sign with them (Briere)

Booing a player out of town because he was put in a position he should not have been (Brisebois)

Jeering hof goalies (Roy & Price)

Rioting after first round playoff wins. Not to mention those riots after cup wins. Rocket riot as well. Though that was 70 years ago

Tying up 911 lines because Chara accidentally injured Pacioretty. Obvious it was an accident.

Death threats to TB players and their families during the Finals

Booing the first PP of the game because they don't score. Then booing the team when the opposition is in the attacking zone

Stalking star players (Stamkos)
So much wrong with this.

His instagram is like 99% positive loving comments. Seriously go look. Anyone criticizing him is getting shouted down.

Social media is by nature toxic, but we also do this selection bias thing. He's getting a ton of love from Habs fans at large.

Given how certain delusional Habs fans reacted to the news of Dubois going to LA, I'm not surprised by this news. These entitled lunatics are sadly the loudest ones, and as we see with this example, they're the ones who are going to garner the most attention.
