It would be kind of hilarious if their over the top reaction and general asshole nature lead to him publicly refusing to sign and they get shit value in a trade.
No shortage of irony or lack of awareness here.I have a Habs fan friend that is constantly wishing death upon Kent Hughes for picking Reinbacher (among other things). Honestly Habs fans are a different breed...
This. Enough saidWhy direct it at the guy who had no agency or decision-making on the situation?
Mostly applied to TO and Montreal though, their fanbases are rabid to a completely different level than the other Canadian cities, both online and offline.Reason #378 why many players don't wanna play in Canada.
Passing on Wright was the right decision.Could be Joulevi 2.0
This is true. But they passed on Michkov. This is after they passed on Shane Wright.
Habs fans. How do you like Marc Bergavin now ?
Good to see you sticking up for your fanbase.this is an absolute lie and should be deleted.
Shame on you for this ignorance.
It's completely untrue and anyone who wasn't lazy
could've looked this up. Instead, you decided to fit into
the thread in order to pile on
both are Austrian.
yeah we know; it's an an absolutely idiotic reach
You’re really asking why a team’s fans get called out when this happens?
Because it’s detestable behavior and should be called out. As it should when any fanbase does it. Like when fans in the playoffs for multiple teams were called out for throwing stuff on the ice.
This time it was crappy Habs fans. Stop playing whataboutism. You accidentally said this behavior shouldn’t be called out. Unless it wasn’t an accident, which makes it worse
Hab fans are no worse then any other fan base....if this had happened to the Leafs or Rangers or Flyers, you would also have a segment of over reactions.....it just that the Habs have one of the largest fan bases so thus you will have a subset of overly passionate fans that take things a little to seriously.....But to suggest that this is unique to the Hab fan base is absolute nonsense.....
Didn't a florida fan just get arrested for threatening to kill the Vegas team? This is unique to the Habs because their fans are so passionate. Perhaps the Leafs can rival them, but nowhere in the States do you witness this level of fanaticism on a regular basis.
An American team could have 2x the fan base as Montreal, yet it still wouldn't rival the Habs because the average US hockey fan filling up stadiums isnt as emotionally invested. Hockey isnt religion here.
That's different, you can't judge an entire fanbase off the actions of an individual or several individualsDidn't a florida fan just get arrested for threatening to kill the Vegas team?

Well.... this forum is also social media so you kinda doI don't do social media.
There’s nothing pathetic about this city. It’s way more than what is represented by a very tiny fraction of the population that are fanatics. If he spoke French he would be their next boyfriend, regardless of his talent.
Pathetic fanbase
Pathetic city (I live here)
That may be true but there is a long history of Habs fans taking things way past the extreme. There were a bunch of Habs fans that were calling Schiefele's parents and making threats after his suspension in the playoffs a couple of years ago.I really believe, and this is as a Toronto fan, that we are only talking about a few tweets here and there. I find it hard to believe a large group of people would threaten an 18yr old like this
This isn't to say a lot of Montreal fans are not upset about the pick but I have to believe the vast majority of fans are reasonable people
